Chapter 10 by BiBiComte BiBiComte

What's next?

Random acts of tomfoolery

I proceed home when suddenly, under the rays of the setting sun, I see a girl coming down the street, eating a granola bar, dressed in a cardigan and jeans.

"Hey." I stand in front of her.

When she pauses, I notice her blond curly hair framing her face cutely. "Yes?"

"Put that granola bar into your ear."

Her arm moves up to angle the bar into her canal. Then she pushes it in, squishing the wrapper against her. Chunks of granola fall to the ground with the wrap.

"Ow," she winces.

"Why did you do that?" I inquire.

The girl pockets her hands, shrugging and looking around. "Um, you told me to..."

"Stand on one leg."

Unfazed, she lifts up her right foot, several inches off the pavement. Her other leg wobbles a little but quickly stabilizes.

"Now put your foot behind your head."

After a few seconds of mental coordination, she grabs her right calf and attempts to pull it towards her head while ducking it under her shin, but struggles. After a few seconds more of this, she resorts to bouncing on her other foot for balance as she strains to get her right leg behind her neck, her body clumsily leaning from one side to the other as she attempts to mitigate what was probably slight discomfort and unfamiliarity with the contortion. Eventually, she accomplishes the act and locks her foot into place, eliciting a quiet clap. As I speak she fixes her hair, removing it from her eyes as they had gotten tussled while she was grating her leg up and over her head.

I type something in my phone, then lift it up for her to see. "Now, say this."

Her face leans in, blinking, before nodding with understanding.

"Okay." Swiveling to face the street, she takes a breath.

"Hey, everyone, look at how much of an idiot I am," she shouts, her slightly squeaky voice cutting through the air. "Look, see? What kind of family curse did my mom get afflicted with to have a bumpkin like me?" Briskly she begins hopping on her grounded foot once more and spins around, landing cleanly in a 360-degree swipe, a serendipitous smile plastered on her face. "Ta-da! I'm a silly one legged rabbit girl! Hahahaha!"

"What the father loving hell?" Sputters a man with thick-rimmed glasses from the corner across us, who just shakes his head and carries on. As he begins walking, I make his pants vanish. Uncaring, he flaunts his junk through his underwear without remorse.

Anyways. Focusing back on my present acquaintanceship.

"Is that it?" The girl's innocent eyes are primed back on me. A few people across the street and in their front yards send blinking glances in her direction before performing identical shakes of the head.

"Sure," I hum. "Thank you very much. What was your name again?"

"Paula." She returns her leg to the ground. "Anyways... it was nice talking to you, but I gotta go, now. Bye.."

As she proceeds to walk past, I grab her pants and thrust it down. She looks back to me.

"Um... thank you for that," she notes. Then she steps out of her pants and continues away, bottomless.
