Rachel Wants To Know

In the end I couldn't say whether it was exactly a productive moment. Mostly because it was a mixed bag.

Eddie and I didn't hash out what had happened between us the night before and he also barely even acknowledged my presence and I don't know if he even actually said a single thing to me directly but at the same time he wasn't leading a campaign to burn me at the stake like a witch so that felt a little like progress.

And we also managed to actually sign up for the LARP club, which was mainly just taking a whole bunch of flyers and leaving our names and contact details on a sign up sheet but that was still something, yes?

Sure there was a way to go from there to actually showing up and I didn't know whether I'd have the courage but also I knew that Rachel would be doing her best to make sure that we did show up. That both me and Eddie showed up.

So that wasn't nothing.

And when Eddie said goodbye and wandered off into the crowd it wasn't some big dramatic thing. He even smiled a bit, which I hadn't honestly seen from him more than a dozen times in the time that I'd known him so that was new.

So in the end, yeah it was a bit of a mixed bag. A little bit of this and a lot of that and not really certain where I stood but feeling a bit like I was finding my footing and that was at least something and it was nice, having Rachel lead me away as she kept up the dominant majority of the conversation.

"So three more booths, at least, that I'll need you to sign up for."

I groaned at her order, but she shook her head not willing to listen to any protests.

"The deal was five, right? So that's what I want. Five different activities and you've only signed up to two."

"What else then?" I asked her, "What next?"

Rachel shook her head and disentangled her arm from mine, "No, this one's on you. I'm not involved here."

"What do you mean?" I asked, watching as she stepped back from me.

"I'm going to give you space to put your big girl panties on and do it yourself. Three more booths, all on your own. And don't think I won't know if you don't."

"How would you know?" I scoffed.

"You have the worst poker face," she chastized me, "I'd know. And I'll know immediately afterwards because you've got thirty minutes to get those sign ups before you meet me at the south gate. We've got a few hours before tonight and this is going to get fixed."

She gestured broadly towards me, all of me.

"A makeover," she explained, "Well not quite a makeover. But we're going to put you in a few of my outfits and see what we can make of you. It's movie night tonight and they're showing something fun on the south lawn and we're expected to be there. So I'm going to play dress up with you and make you hot as fuck."

I blushed, "Okay."

"But before I do and before I go I just need to know something," she smiled conspiratorially, shifting in closer and sliding in next to me so that only I could hear, "What's the deal?"

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"The deal," she said, "With Eddie."

Something cold settled into the pit of my stomach and that only deepened as she pumped her eyebrows at me and nodded, her eyes flashing with the mischevious kind of delight I knew she reserved for when she was feeling especially naughty.

"So?" she asked me, "What's the deal?"
