Indecent Questioning

"I mean there is something there, right?" Rachel went on, "There has to be. The tension between the two of you... I can sense it. Did you fuck him?"

"No!" I cried out, a little too loud and definitely bringing to mind expressions about ladies doth protesting too much, "I didn't-"

"Oh right," she said, "You haven't yet. So... Oh, is he your mystery blowjob man? No, couldn't be that you know Eddie's name. So what was he? Some fun last night? Between the afternoon and the evening? What's he like?"

"You think we fucked?" I asked, incredulous.

"No, I know you didn't," she corrected me, cautiously, "I'm willing to bet on a blowjob, since you seem really into those. That or maybe he's a generous sort and went down on you instead? Oh don't tell me it was just makeouts, that'd be heartbreaking."

"No," I shook my head, "No makeouts. No blowjobs or anything. I didn't... I wouldn't... Why would you even think that I would?"

She laughed, as if it was the most obvious thing in the whole damn world, and shook her head. Leaning back and biting her lip she rolled her eyes at me.

"There was tension between the two of you," she said, "And clearly something had happened."

"More can happen than just two people fucking, Rachel," I drawled.

"Fair," she smiled, "Boring but fair. So what was it then?"

I thought back to all that I'd said to him the night before, to the fact that I'd said too much. Beyond that I thought about the whole of our history together in a life that I'd left behind and the way that was obviously impacting me and yeah, that could lend to a certain kind of tension in the air.

But it couldn't lead to fucking, not with Eddie.

Proceeding cautiously and trying to unpack things for myself at the same time I tried to explain, "Last night, we talked. There was a bit of an argument. He was a bit of a jerk and I said some stupid things and we were maybe both a little drunk but it's hard. It's hard to look him in the eye the next day.

"But we didn't fuck or anything even remotely close to that, Rachel. That absolutely didn't happen."

"He was a jerk?" she asked me, something odd in her inflection.

"Yeah," I said, not denying it, "He really was but it's a complicated situation. I mean..."

"I get it," she nodded, "I've seen the type. Angry as a self defense mechanism, right?"

I shrugged, "I think so. But he's not a bad guy or anything, Rachel. I mean he's not a good guy, but he's not bad either. Exactly. At least I think."

"You sound conflicted," Rachel laughed, "Are you sure you're not interested?"

"Definitely," I laughed back, fighting a shudder of revulsion at the thought, "No, Eddie isn't my type."

"Oh I've seen your type. I know. Big and tall and handsome and muscular."

I blushed, "Not necessarily that."

"Good," Rachel said, "Because you shouldn't restrict yourself so early. You can have a whole lot of fun with a surprising partner. Keep your options open. You know?"

I shrugged, "Fair enough. But I'm still not going to go for Eddie."

"Good," she nodded, "I mean you had me worried there for a second."

"How's that?" I asked.

She smiled, "Well I was just a little concerned that I was going to have to call dibs."
