Chapter 7

While the twins are growing, important things are happening...
Queen Isolde faces the consequences of her secret sexual relationship.
Over the years, the twins, who are considered by all persons in the kingdom to be the children of the old king Eadric, grow up and learn the ways of the world.
Only their mother, Queen Isolde, knows the frightening truth about their real father…
How many years have passed since that fateful night?
Eight years have already passed…
The two mischievous and restless teenagers often fool around, running along the vast corridors of the Segh-Teinarel castle and coming up with various pranks.
The courtiers are **** to tolerate their jokes - after all, both of these restless children are considered heirs to the royal power.
It seems that the situation in the kingdom is relatively stable.
Of course, the old king Eadric has become even more decrepit and weak in recent years.
But the presence of heirs allows the king's subjects to hope for well-being.
Border battles with orcs and goblins, rare troll raids on the eastern border...
None of this has yet reached the scale of an **** threat.
The troops of the border vassals are fighting off the attacks, albeit with difficulty.
But...
In recent months, Queen Isolde herself has begun to experience a growing sense of anxiety.
A kind of vague uneasiness that does not allow her to fall into a pleasurable night's sleep.
Anxiety that exhausts the body and mind...
And this night, it was especially difficult for the queen to fall asleep...
Thunder...
A blindingly bright lightning bolt in the black skies...
Isolde suffered from insomnia for a long time, tossing and turning on her bed, before she was finally able to fall asleep.
However, sleep did not bring the desired rest.
The queen seemed to be immersed in some vague visions.
She sees in her dreams the night skies, in which blinding and frightening lightning flashes again and again.
Isolde seems to be walking in the forest...
There are trees and bushes on all sides.
The rain is getting stronger...
It's cold...
And ahead on a narrow forest path a silhouette is visible...
It seems to be a figure of a woman...
"This is all strange... I need to get out of here as soon as possible... This is just a dream... I need to **** myself to wake up..." Isolde thinks.
The queen looks back...
There in the distance another silhouette is visible, coming out of the bushes onto the path.
It is not human.
In the flashes of lightning, Isolde manages to get a better look at this creature…

It is some kind of wolf-like creature of large size with disproportionately long and sharp fangs. And its eyes glow with a reddish glow...
Fear grips the soul of the queen and she quickens her pace, walking forward along the path.
And the strange beast slowly follows Isolde, as if expecting something.
A minute later, Isolde, soaked by the rain and shivering from the cold, approaches the silhouette of a woman.
This young woman is dressed in an elegant dress that does not match the forest area at all.
Thunder in the sky.
Lightning strikes with double **** and it seems to the queen that the lightning seems to touch the figure of a strange woman.

The woman turns around and stares into the eyes of the queen.
Suddenly, from somewhere behind, a beastial howl is heard, from which a wave of chilling horror pierces the consciousness of Isolde.
Another lightning strike.
The face of the strange woman seems to change in a split second, acquiring more and more new outlines.
It is similar to a rapid change of masks - external images replace one after another.
"Come closer ..." - a commanding voice sounds in the head of the queen.
Isolde takes a couple of steps towards this ... creature.
Meanwhile, this silhouette begins to exude powerful energy. Small lightning bolts wrap around this figure like clothing. The features of the "face" of this creature now represent some kind of concentration of sparkling lightning bolts.
The image of this "person" itself is more like a whirlwind of shining lightning.
Isolde is seized with horror, but she simply cannot take even a step back.
She cannot even look away.
"What kind of obsession is this?! This dream... I need to wake up!" - Isolde thinks in panic.
The influence of an alien powerful will permeates every tiny part of the body and mind of Isolde.
Awareness permeates the frightened mind of the queen.
Stern Mistress of Truth
The goddess of justice, law and truth - Fardenna.
That is whose image is in front of Isolde now.
A voice like thunder rumbles inside the queen's head, causing pain and confusion: "Every crime has its punishment... Every deed has its consequences... Adultery, breaking sacred marriage vows, spreading the taint of chaotic influence in the kingdom..."
The pain causes tears to flow from Isolde's beautiful dark brown eyes.
In a helpless plea, she says: "But I did this... My deeds were based only on caring for the future of Kingdom Eborvair! I beg for your mercy, Goddess!"
The vortex of lightning intensifies...
As does the terrifying beastial howl coming from the dark forest behind...
"Your deeds were done for the sake of Kingdom Eborvair? Do you seriously hope to deceive me? Or perhaps your true motive was to become the mother of those who would rule the kingdom in the future? The joy of motherhood... The joy of power... The desire to break the burdensome dependence on an old husband-king... King Eadric neglected you for years, he became old, feeble, irritable. He could not sire an heir all these years while you were his wife. Do you, a miserable mortal, think that the king's inability to sire an heir to the throne was an accident?"
Isolde is too terrified and too painful to respond.
The goddess's voice grows louder: "You know, of course, that you are not the king's first wife. He was married twice before you. And for most of his life, Eadric was not a decrepit old man. He was a flighty, hedonistic libertine who was more concerned with his own pleasures and entertainment than with the fate of the Kingdom of Eborvair. He committed vile acts, he broke his oaths, he neglected his duties, he fathered many bastards... And do you know how I punished him?"
"You... You deprived his seed of the ability to conceive heirs to the throne..." - Isolde speaks with difficulty, overcoming the pain.
"True. And I also accelerated the inevitable process of weakening his physical shell. He became feeble and pathetic. The hedonistic pleasures of old were simply unavailable to him. The king was punished for the years of his useless and sinful life. The punishment was inevitable and proportionate to his crimes…" - the non human voice sounds solemn.
"But… Because of such a cruel punishment, you have jeopardized the fate of the Kingdom Eborvair! The entire royal dynasty of Teinarelid may come to an end!" - the queen whispers helplessly.
"The Teinarelid dynasty… Teinarel the Rockclimber was my faithful follower. About two hundred years ago, he cleared these lands of terrifying monsters that brought ****, destruction and chaos. He united the disparate weak tribes of humans. He deservedly became the first king of the Kingdom Eborvair. I patronized him. But I will not patronize his effeminate and depraved descendants. For me, Truth and Justice are immeasurably more valuable than the past merits of the ancestor of the sinners living today! And you should not be hypocritical, mortal - after all, your children are not actually representatives of the Teinarelid dynasty either! And you gave birth to twins! Obviously, this will create problems in terms of the succession procedure ... " - there is a sense of inflexibility in the words of Fardenna.
The multi-voiced beastial howl intensifies, as if many creatures are moving from the dark forest.
"Do you hear this vile howl, mortal? This is not a coincidence ... These are the results of your actions. You allowed an ancient chaotic **** to take advantage of your own weakness and sinfulness. One of the ancient deities of the vast forest expanses has strengthened his position in the kingdom. Renard the Trickster.
The Grinning Fox used your body. The Grinning Fox is the true father of both your sons. And his influence on them would be all-encompassing, if I had not influenced your children from the moment they were in your womb. Now, in the minds and bodies of your two sons, there are two contradictory principles. Order and Chaos. Justice and Arbitrariness. The Grinning Fox cannot yet fully turn them into his obedient toys. But he will always try... And I will counteract his influence..." - the words of Stern Mistress of Truth exude condemnation.
"You did not fully accept either of the opposing sides. You tried to please everyone. Recognition of the cults of all gods... Unity festivals soothing the plebs... You were able to temporarily maintain stability in the Kingdom of Eborvair. You temporarily delayed dramatic events. In return, I allowed you to be with your children for some time and see your two sons grow up. Indeed, you are right that children should not be held accountable for the sins and crimes of their parents... But this does not mean that the sins and crimes of parents will remain unpunished!"
A whirlwind of shining lightning rushes towards the body of Isolde.
The plaintive cry of a frightened woman is not heard at all among the deafening peals of thunder.
The next morning, servants found her lifeless body in the queen's bedroom.
The young and beautiful woman died in her sleep.
The court physicians were at a loss as to the cause of such a sudden ****.
Heart attack? Some kind of illness? Poisoning?
Many rumors were spread among the court gossips.
But none of these rumors ever received plausible confirmation.
King Eadric did not live long after the sudden **** of his young wife.
He died about a year later, being very weak and confined to his bed.
The situation in the kingdom became much less stable.
Several peasant uprisings occurred in the south of the kingdom, which the troops were not able to suppress right away.
The attacks of the orcs of the tribal union "Spinebreakers" on the western borders have intensified and the kingdom has lost control over several strategically important castles in the forest region. Supreme Chieftain Veragzur the Horrendous has strengthened his position in the captured lands and has begun to prepare for new raids.
Fortunately, the situation has been avoided from deteriorating too much: an internecine feudal war between the vassals of the deceased King Eadric has not yet occurred, thanks to the diplomatic efforts of the local fardenian clergy. Monks and priests carrying the will of the Stern Mistress of Truth were able to consolidate the majority of eborvairian aristocrats to some extent.
As a result, until the heirs to the throne come of age, the country is ruled by a collegial governing body - the Regency Council of the High Nobles. The Regency Council includes representatives of the most influential and noble aristocratic houses and representatives of the most significant cults of deities in the kingdom.
The high clergy from the secluded monasteries of the cult of Fardenna…
Priests from the forest temples of the cult of Grinning Fox…
Disputes and intrigues among the members of the Regency Council were not at all uncommon.
Of course, this method of governing the kingdom is not stable and reliable.
Due to the onslaught of enemies on the borders, the territory of the Kingdom of Eborvair is gradually shrinking.
However, there is still one problem - who exactly will become king?
The years go by and the moment of coronation is getting closer...
Potentially, both of the twins have equal rights to the throne.
They were both born at the same time. They are both male.
But according to the laws of succession, the crown passes to a new person according to the principle of majorat.
There must be one king.
When the twins reach adulthood, the Regency Council must come up with some solution to this problem...
Prefer one of the twins?
But which of the two brothers will it be?
Young Gellian with golden hair like the sun and a mysterious look in his dark blue eyes.
Or Jason with fiery red curls and laughing eyes that seemed to emit a strange glow.
Or will the Regency Council still be able to come up with some other solution to the problem?
So, Gellian and Jason come of age... What does fate have in store for each of the twins?
