Chapter 3 by Sixth Sixth

Do you go shopping with gramps, help mom, or something else?

Use the library escape trick

"I think I'll go to the library and study," you say, "After all; a gas leak at school doesn't stop my exams from getting any closer."

You will go to the library too. Well? for a bit. Poking your head into the library for an hour or so would be much better than being stuck at home helping mom or, worse, going to the mall with your ancient grandfather.

Your mom seems pleased, "Good girl!"

Your grandfather seems less than pleased, "Aww! Rats!"

"Gotta go!" you claim, grabbing your bag you had ready for school. "I see the bus!"

You escape the house at a run. Phew. That was a close one.

The school bus is more or less empty. The news of the gas leak - or whatever the problem is - must have travelled quickly this morning. In the vehicle with you are only four boys from the year below you, a girl and a guy from your year. You don't know any of them well and so you sit in silence for the trip.

You can tell something is up by the time the bus pulls up into the campus. The library is the large, older building, on the far west of the campus. The school building is the newer building on the east. The school's certainly sealed off. Police tape and lots of emergency vehicles surround the building. There are even men roaming around outside in full cover body containment suits - the school yard looks like a scene out of the movies.

Try and find out what's going on at the school or go straight to the library?
