Chapter 27 by Doobler Doobler

What exactly is the range of our Telepathic abilities, actually?

Actually pretty far, wow.

As we tried to expand our radiuses of influence, we expected to hit some sort of limit eventually, but it kept expanding the more effort we put into it. First it hit one house, then a neighborhood, then the whole city, eventually we could sense the whole continent! Around there, it stopped though. Plus, I could tell we still needed to establish an enslavement individually for each person in the range, so definitely a hassle to bring everyone into the fold. But even still, it was mindblowing how far we could spread our influence. Was it because we were two telepaths working together as one? Maybe with more Telepath Mindslavers, we could even encompass the planet, or the universe itself!

Though I guess there’s no chance of that aside from Familiar Mindslavers, in terms of the Mindslaver War. Plus, it’s not like I need to enslave a whole universe anyway. Even if I have the power to mind control people, I can still try to have a mutually beneficial relationship in a way that’s not centered around ruling or dominating them, can’t I?

But ethical questions about interpersonal relationships aside, I did think we should try to have a good plan of attack/defense in the case of another Planeswalking Mindslaver. First we need to keep ourselves from getting enslaved, and while having a bunch of safeguards and defenses would certainly be the more sure or secure option, I had an idea to try and keep us safe in the time it’d take to set that stuff up.

I grabbed my bag of Special Items, in particular pulling out my Notebook and complementary pen. As I glanced over to Jane, we smiled at each other as we noticed that our plans were identical. In unison we both wrote “Normally, when two Mindslavers meet and wish to enslave the other, instead of fighting physically they will instead participate in a game to determine who will become enslaved, specifically with the loser becoming the winner’s ****. The previously listed game normally happens when one Mindslaver challenges the other to a game, with the one who is challenged choosing the game and rules. In one of the previously described games, cheating is normally allowed, but only if the opponent doesn’t figure out the method behind it. Normally, the writer of this Normality wins every one of the previously described games that they participate in.” on a blank page of Notebook Paper.

No Game No Life was certainly on both our minds, though to be honest we hadn’t seen the show in detail, and mostly knew about it from an outside standpoint as people who kept up with anime in general. The plan we had figured right away was that if the Always Winning Normality didn’t guarantee a victory by itself, then the other one of us could use our Special Items to affect outcomes, for example Jane using a Stopwatch to switch around my cards secretly during a game of poker. It wasn’t a perfect defense, considering what kind of stuff had been demonstrated in a well-known One Piece Normality story.

The idea was that the protagonist wanted Monkey D. Luffy to not go somewhere as part of a plan, so they said a typical Normality Item thing like “It’s normal for you to do what I say, and I say don’t go to that place.” The trouble was that Luffy as a person doesn’t give a damn about what’s “normal”, he just cares about what’ll help him become King of the Pirates alongside his crew. Anything that affects “Normal” won’t affect him, cause he’ll do whatever he wants no matter what. After all, changing the rules means nothing if you make a point to do whatever you want. If Luffy wants to eat a fruit, then he’ll do it, whether or not it’s “normal” or “allowed”.

So, essentially we were safe from people who were affected by Normalities, or at least people who liked to play games to determine who gets to enslave someone. Now that we had a safety net, it was time to start setting up the trapeze act. I figured there was a clear way we could establish a good defense for both ourselves and everyone we were responsible for, but I’d need to Planeswalk somewhere first. And I do mean “I’d” need to, since I was gonna leave Jane to hold down the fort while I ran my errands.

And where exactly am I going, you might be asking?
