4 - Maggie gets the date

Kyle's heart sinks as he sees the number four on his golden six-sided die. He was hoping to get the first date. Maggie was one of his best friends, but he detected she wasn't happy sharing the new Tanya. Still, a deal was a deal, so he'd wait his turn. Meanwhile, Maggie had to work hard to hide her grin. She didn't want Kyle to get first dibs on Tanya. She didn't trust him with Tanya's current state of mind, and this meant she'd have at least one date to try safely shape Tanya.

"Oh well," Tanya says, "I was hoping for a threesome date, but" she turns to Maggie and smiles happily, "I'm looking forward to it." And she was. However, part of her brain was partially disappointed that she wouldn't be going on a date with both of them simultaneously. She couldn't understand why that felt so right compared to simply going out with one of them. She turns to Kylee and smiles. "But I guess that means you get me all to yourself next date!"

It wasn't as soothing to Kyle as Tanya may have thought, but he tried his best to put on a happy front. "Well, I'm sure Maggie will be absolutely ladylike." There's a hint of uncertainty in Kyle's voice.

"Tanya! Bring your friends to dinner!" Tanya's mom yells from downstairs.

Dinner could have been more uneventful. There was one uncomfortable moment when Drew came upstairs, but he returned to the basement without making eye contact with anyone at the table. Otherwise, Kyle and Maggie did a decent job keeping Tanya on track and ensuring conversation was steered away from anything that would indicate Tanya's new disposition.

After dinner, Tanya drove her two friends home. Maggie told Tanya she'd text her with date ideas as she hopped out of the car. Tanya had a hard time watching Maggie go without kissing her.

Kyle was quiet for the car ride. He was struggling with letting Maggie have the first date. As Tanya pulls up in front of Kyle's house, Tanya asks if everything is okay. "Oh, it's fine," Kyle replies. "I was just hoping to spend some alone time with you. Anyway, have fun tomorrow night, but not too much fun." As Kyle starts to get out of the car, he feels Tanya grab his hand and pull him back.

"Wait," she says and leans in, pressing her lips against Kyle's lips. The boy is shocked for only a moment before he understands what's happening and starts kissing back. The kissing is hungry. Kyle starved for Tanya's affection for years, and Tanya starved for Kyle's kisses because of the curse. Suddenly, the front porch light turns on, and Kyle panics. Pushing Tanya away gently.

"Oh my god," he says in a panting, **** whisper, "Sorry, we need to stop. My Mom would freak out if she knew I was kissing you so much without getting permission..."

"We need to stop," Tanya repeats.

"Wait, no, we don't. I mean, we do but only for right now. We can kiss more on our date. It's just that I have to talk to my Mom first."

Tanya smiles. "I understand, my parents probably would freak, too, but we'll need to work out how to break it to them that we're all dating. McKenzie is going to be so disgusted," Tanya says, thinking about her cheerleading friends but then remembering she isn't supposed to hang out with them anymore. It makes sense, but she also feels a little sad.

Kyle sighs. He feels a mixture of frustration. That desire to be with Tanya, but now, once again, that mean girl attitude is seeping out in her statements. He understands that if Tanya had a choice, this kiss would never have happened, and she'd still be bullying him. He looks and sees his Mom on the porch.

"Yeah, well, anyway, we'll go on our date the night after your date with Maggie," he opens the door and gets out without another word.

Tanya drives home and heads to bed. As she gets into bed she checks her texts and sees a new one from Maggie with their date plans.
