Chapter 15

What's next?
Getting a little work done
It was still pretty early when we'd had lunch, so we had made the trek back to the pool with the shower bag. It was heavy, too heavy for me to carry on my shoulders, luckily the thing had loops on each corner making it easy for us to carry it between us. I walked in front and told Alice to have her side of the bag a little higher than mine so I took more of the weight.
Finding that waterfall and pool was amazing really, this meant that we could be clean without getting salty skin and I wouldn't have to try and fashion some kind of still out of the water bottles. We won't even have to set up a filter for drinking because the life straws last for up to eight months which meant that shared between us we had around two and a half years worth of clean water filtering.
That was one big worry off my shoulders. We were kind of in a great position now, we had a source of food even if it wasn't the most extravagant. We had clean safe drinking water. We decided that it was best if we don't use it today since we rinsed off in the pool earlier on and instead we got on with doing things around camp. While Alice extracted more coconut butter I began making our bed shelter more weather resistant, Luckily we had the tarp and it covered us from the rain but what would be better would be walls so I began gathering thin and long sticks. I pulled down the tarp and made three walls that covered us from most of the wind and made the side facing the beach a half wall. I then made a door of sorts, it was basically like a wicker panel with one of the end sticks being longer, I dug a hole on one side of the opening placing the longer stick into it and then cut some paracord I tied some to the bottom of the door looping it around the frame, then did the same at the top making a very primitive hinge. The last piece of paracord I tied to the middle of the door on the side that was able to swing so that it could be secured when we weren't using it.
Once the walls were made, I put the roof back up. It sat low to the walls so at the door I had to use two props to lift the tarp making the door useable. It was dark by the time I had finished, and I could smell the food Alice had begun to cook. I came out to the beach and looked at Alice slaving away over the fire. She looked pretty warn out, "Hey Alice, I can do that if you wanna take a break."
As she looked back at me her smile faded a little, "I don't think so, look at you, you are the one who needs a break. Go lay in the sand. It's cooler now the sun has gone."
I was about to argue, but I could see the look on her face, she didn't give me that look often but when she did she meant business, it was the look that told me that if I didn't do as she asked she'd be pissed, I let out a long sigh, "fine, but you could use some rest too."
She gave me an appreciative smile, "I'll rest after dinner now go lay down, maybe put your feet in the shore or something," She suggested.
The food was about as special as it had been since we got here, luckily we were still using one of the glass bottles to boil seawater to get salt so we could at the very least use that to make it better.
After food, we both laid on the beach by the fire looking up at the stars, "Hey, so what if the others ended up going overboard too? Do you think they'd be okay?" Alice asked.
I looked over at her. It wasn't something I wanted to think about, "I don't know, I hope we were the only ones unfortunate enough well all but Eric, I'm never hanging around with Tim if he's there again," I lamented.
Alice looked into my eyes with a smile, then she stood and walked over to me before laying next to me and draping her arms around me, "You really were my knight in shining armour that night you know, I really downplayed how I felt when we talked the other day. You know I don't do well in crowds, and the party had started to get to me a little, Becca noticed and she told me to go take a breather out of the way and that guy cornered me, I felt like I was going to end up having a panic attack until I saw the door open and you walk in," I could feel her arms tighten around me, "Your always there when I need you. Hey! Let's get off this topic anyway, you never answered my question, do you think the others would be okay if they did go overboard?"
I wrapped my arms around her, hugging her and sighed, "I really don't know, I hope so... Tim isn't exactly the most outdoorsy so fingers crossed if he did that he is with someone a little better suited to it. He's said about how good he'd be in this kinda situation before because of his love for survival games and stuff but I don't know how well all of that translates.
"I mean you've seen the stuff he packed into the survival pack it's all multitools he probably saw on some survival gadgets video on UTube. And honestly, I really hope that everyone is okay because if not that means that people won't even start looking for us for at least a week..."
"Well, hopefully, he's stuck with Becca. I know they don't get on extremely well but she loves camping, I'm not super into that but she and the other girls who were on the yacht go out camping in the forest every year. I couldn't do that. It's different here, for one I have you here, and we're kinda in tropical waters here so it's warm all the time. They go in the cold and wet, and I think I'd hate it." Alice explained.
I laughed imagining Alice actually going out in the rain camping, it was a ridiculous thought. Alice must have realised what I was laughing at because she soon joined me. "Hey, how about, we play a game?" I suggested, I didn't really have anything in mind but we hadn't really done anything to entertain ourselves since coming to the island.
"Okay, what game?" Alice said as she stood and sat on the log by the fire.
I joined her and thought for a moment, no matter what I'd suggest she'll probably complain about, "I'll let you choose," I smiled.
She groaned, then thought for a moment, "Anything?"
"Suuure?" I said sceptically.
"Okay then, I choose truth or dare, Becca and the girls were supposed to have been playing on the ship at some point but we couldn't and I want too," Alice smiled excitedly.
I sighed, "Fine, I already agreed."
