Sword and Shield (Paladin)(Lawful Good)

What to Expect: A fight against an eternal evil, what are you willing to sacrifice to achieve victory? What are you willing to lose to protect who you love?

You survey the armaments dangling from the wall. They are all well made and maintained. A veritable armory for a mercenary company or standing army. An army like yours. Your eyes fixate on something familiar. A large metal shield, with a longsword tucked behind it. The front of the shield is emblazoned with the iconography of Vahn; the God of Justice. Your life has been dedicated to Vahn and his cause, as both a Noble citizen of the Divine Kingdom of his namesake, but as a holy Paladin, in the eternal fight between the forces of good and the legions of evil. This sword and shield being here cannot be coincidence; fate has ordained you being here.

You remove the sword and shield from the wall and hold them in a martial stance to test their fit. They seem build specifically for you. As you give the sword a few practice swings, the torchlight grows rapidly in intensity, blinding you. You try to tuck your eyes behind the shield but to no avail. In a few moments time, the light dissipates, and you have left the circular prison, having returned to familiar grounds. A stone armory, similar to what you were in before, but far less equipped. You are donned in the chain armor from head to toe. Stepping outside, this is the first time you are actually pleased to see the battered landscape before you.

You stand at Adrogin, a fort that has kept watch against the infernal hordes of the demonic realm for generations. The unholy made a pact with the deceitful drow and barbaric Orcs to conquer the known world in what would become The Triumverate War. The Triumverate would be defeated, but the Dreadlords never surrendered or ended their crusade in this realm. As such, the Third Age has been marred by a never ending war in this area, caught in a dreadful stalemate. Unfortunately, it seems that stalemate may be reaching an unfortunate end. Fewer recruits and fewer supplies come to take a stand at World's End each year, and your fellows have had to get creative with how to use what you have. The demons and undead that claim the scorched earth before you seem to never end, but their tactics of late have been erratic, showing possible signs of desperation.

You've been here, fighting the good fight for years. The people around you rally around your steadfast loyalty to the cause, as well as your resilience in battle and tactical knowledge, and in so doing have quickly risen as one of the officers in charge. It is here that you find yourself pulled in different directions. You hear a horn for eminent arrivals, and make your way there in a hurry, just as one of the captains of the scouting party tries to get your attention.

"Sir, we have urgent news! I must share with you!"

"If you must share it, surely you can share it while walking..."

"Y-Yessir, we intercepted something in our scouting today. We found a..." You fail to comprehend the captain's words as you round the corner, seeing the caravan arriving with fresh supplies and manpower, as it arrived with two things you never would have expected.

Diana and Brigid, your younger twin sisters. They had grown dramatically since you had last seen them. Their red hair was no less radiant, now cut short to easily fit under their helmets. They were both tall and well proportioned. They would make beautiful wives for someone some day, if they weren't here and fully outfitted as Paladins of Iomadae, ready for war. Their appearance seems out of place with the soft, beautiful faces and warm demeanor. You begin to wonder, just how long have you been out here for them to have become adults, and holy warriors no less?" They remove their sacks from their horses, and upon seeing you, lose all military bearing. Their sacks plopped in the dirt, they both come rushing towards you.

"Big Brother!" They both shout as they wrap their arms around you "Iomadae's Blessing, it's so good to see you Rodan!"

"It's...really good to see the both of you as well!" You let out as you try to understand the moment "Also, quite the surprise, if I'm honest. I had no idea you two would follow in my footsteps like this, least of all the way out here!"

"Well, you always told us to go where we were needed, and this became our calling."

"I'm proud of both of you girls. I'm sure with the two of you here, we can finally win this war, and put evil in it's place!"

"Sir.." the captain still hovered around you, quietly perturbed at being ignored

"I'm sorry about that, you were saying you found something."

"Yes, we intercepted something interesting. Plans for troop movements. The Dreadlord Himself is moving forward along the Scattercrag Pass."

"That's rather unexpected. We haven't seen their generals come outward like this. We could lay a trap for them."

"That possibility has been entertained sir. The General would like to discuss this with you in private, to plan your next move..."
