Chapter 6
by
Raveena
Does John try it for himself, just buys it as-is, or find a different costume?
Just Buys It
"No, I believe you," John said as he grabbed his wallet; after all, it was only $45--with the quality of the fabric, it seemed like a deal, especially if it came all the way from Asia. "That will be fine."
The lady shrugged and put the sari in a bag, along with the skirt and top. John handed over the money and she grinned. "Enjoy your purchase, sir. We hope to see you again soon."
"Just a word of advice," The old man chimed in. "Be careful not to tear the fabric or keep it on more than a day."
"I'll be sure to keep that in mind." John rolled his eyes, but took the bag. "Thanks."
It had been an uneventful ride home, though for reasons John couldn't quite put his finger on, he kept glancing over at his purchase. It just sat in the passenger seat, a hint of fabric sticking out of its bag, teasing him. At the stop lights, he rubbed the material with his fingers unconsciously. By the time he got home, he found himself wondering how the outfit would look on Lauren--how would she even put it on? It seemed kind of complicated. Yet, despite himself, he smiled at the thought. She would look so sexy in it with that short top--plus, her frustration trying to wear it would be adorable. That mental picture made him smile--however, for some reason, a picture of him wearing it popped into his head.
He quickly shook the thought from his mind. Where had that come from?
Once he got home, he quickly walked into the house, bag in hand. "Lauren, are you here? I have something for you. . . " His voice echoed a bit as he listened for her reply. Maybe she wasn't home? Perhaps she was in the bathroom or working out in the basement with her headphones on or something. Still, he was tired and neglected to search. Instead, he went straight to their bedroom to nap and put Lauren's surprise in their closet.
As he closed the bedroom door and sat the bag down, he looked at it again. The old lady's suggestion that it could fit him stuck in his mind . . . maybe he could try to drape the fabric, which looks really hard, just as a lark. Otherwise, he could wait until Lauren came home and surprise her. . . .
Does John try to drape it himself or does he wait until Lauren gets home?

The costume shop in the mall has had a long history of being different. Few people are able to find it and those who do are said to disappear without a trace.
