Chapter 5 by Raveena Raveena

What does he pick?

Sari

John looked around the aisle. The costumes seemed to be so detailed; it was hard to believe that they had managed to get such a collection of life-like costumes, for such a reasonable price. There had to be a catch. Still, despite his suspicions, he kept on looking through the costumes. He glanced at the men's section, but he found himself drawn to the women's. After all, he had been trying to find Lauren a new outfit--that was the only possible reason, surely.

As he pulled through the rack, his hand brushed up against some of the nicest material he had ever touched. The cool silk gave him pause. The fabric was folded immaculately on its hanger, and covered in meticulous patterns, swirling across the piece. It was hypnotizing and slowly, John reached for it. He didn't want to risk disturbing it, since it seemed so delicately put there. Hanging from the hanger was also a clear bag, with what looked like a skirt and a crop top in it. The top was a similar colour to the fabric, and along the edges of the sleeves and neckline were swirls that matched the fabric designs. From what John could tell, the back was open, but had to be tied with a string around the shoulder blades.

As different as it looked, at that moment, it was the most beautiful outfit John had ever seen.

He removed the outfit from the rack and walked back to the couple. "What is this?"

The old woman glanced up from their game. "That is a sari, dear; they're from South Asia."

"Oh. Is this second outfit included in the price for this?"

"No," The old woman shook her head. "They are part of it. You wear the skirt thing and that top, and then you take the fabric and drape it around yourself. You tuck it in the skirt waist band, make pleats with the fabric and then swing it over your shoulder."

"That sounds pretty complicated...." John glanced at the sari.

"It's okay, you'll get the hang of it," The old man chuckled.

"It's not for me!" John flushed. "You already know it's for my girlfriend; she may not even fit in this."

"Trust us, one size fits all. If you want, you can give it a try. and see for yourself."

Does John try it for himself, just buys it as-is, or find a different costume?
