The rest of the family returns home.

The sun begins to dip low in the sky, painting the land in a red twilight. As evening falls the absent family members return home. Your Mother begins to heat leftover soup that she had fed to the field workers earlier that day, taking home the remains being a small happy benefit of her job. You and your Brother set the table before sharing a small meal with your parents.

The sound of slurping unlike the ones from a few short hours ago, fill the room as the family eats in silence. "Some travelers in town today...said there was an attack on the Hellmouth, some demons got through and are rampaging around the woods." your Brother's voice breaks the silence. "Think there might be a call to arms soon..." the implication of your Brother's words hang in the air.

A meaty finger belonging to your Father points at your Brother. "You aren't going, hunting monsters and demons sounds like an exciting time, but it isn't." he rumbles between bites of bread. "I remember the attack from just after your Sister was born, your Grandfather and Uncle both died in that battle."

Davon's face scrunches up as he frowns, and he glares. "I'm grown, it's good money and it's better than working the fields...." a sour almost petulant tone creeps into his voice as he crosses his arms across his chest.

"You still live in my house, and you're still my son. You're not going." your Father glares at your Brother, an angry glint in his eye.

Davon goes to open his mouth before your Mother adds. "Listen to your Father." she says in her usual quiet tone, that brooks no disagreement.

Your Brother sulks and falls silent, and the rest of the meal is passed in silence.

Finishing up the remains of your meal, you rise to your feet. "Thank you for the meal, I'm going to head out for a bit, I'll be back in a couple hours." Before anyone can ask you a question, you sweep out the home and into the night
