Chapter 28
by
Mrwhysper
What did we bother coming home for if we’re just going to bed again?
Because it’s legal to sleep naked in Wisconsin
After a quick roll in the hay and a criminally short shower you’re faced with the sad news that Beth actually has to work in the morning. Since she doesn’t have any school appropriate clothing at your place this means you’ll have to give her a ride home. The hour is getting late, so the two of you drive to Olive Garden further up the hill and enjoy a quiet relaxed dinner.
There’s a vague thrill to knowing that you’re out on a date with your sister, more so because no one around you is aware of the relationship, although the couple next to you probably notices the way that Beth’s foot keeps climbing your leg. You laugh together, telling each other stories about the lives you’ve spent apart. She talks about high school and college boyfriends, classes, what she enjoys doing in her free time. You describe in grandiose detail a few of the scams you’ve run over the years. She seems to be taking notes.
Stuffed and happy, the two of you leave and you drive her to her apartment. “Wanna come in for a drink?”
Sighing softly, you reach out and stroke her cheek, “Sorry, I have to do some work tonight.”
She looks slightly miffed but also intrigued. “Well, that’s probably for the best. I have to be up at six AM.”
“Here,” you say fumbling around in your jacket pocket and pulling out a small brass key, “This’ll unlock my front door. Come over after work tomorrow.”
She grins and leans in close to kiss you. Unlike the earlier hungry attacks, this kiss has far more tenderness. “I’ll make you dinner,” she whispers as she draws back, gazing into your eyes, “Thank you Jimmy. You somehow managed to make me forget all about Mom this weekend, and fulfilled one of my longest running fantasies. I love you, Big Brother.”
You smile warmly at her, “You’ll have to tell me all your other fantasies, and I’ll do whatever it takes to make them all come true. I love you too, Little Sister.”
Another kiss, this one signaling goodbye, and you’re left alone with your thoughts for the short drive to Spirit Valley. You plan to visit Sugar Daddy’s on Thursday, and it would help to have a considerable amount of cash when you do so. That means stealing a considerable amount of cash. There are a few likely scenarios for this, but the one you’ve decided on requires both business cards and a confidant. Both of those can be found in Spirit Valley, the hybrid residential/business district at the western edge of Duluth.
“Eric?”
A phone call as you sit in traffic, about two miles from the print shop. “Yo. Jimmy, my man, what’s up?” Eric’s voice rings with a timbre that makes him sound like he knows exactly what he’s talking about. You’ve known him for years, and worked a couple hustles with him
“ I have work for you. 70/30 split. Meet me at McDonalds. I’ll buy you coffee and we’ll talk.” He’ll be there.
“Right on brother. It’s always a good time working with you. See you in 20?”
So what’s the plan?
