Jessica stays and fights

[Jessica's POV]

Jessica steps closer, and stops. She feels paralyzed with fear. The initial rush of bravery that she had had when she had cut Elizabeth had drained from her. Every instinct was telling her to run.

No. I can't keep running and hiding Jessica thinks. I need to finish this.

Jessica staggers forward and drives the silver blade deep into Elizabeth's back with all of her weight. Elizabeth's back arches as she throws her head back, dropping Catherine's head and howling. Jessica grabs Catherine's hand as Elizabeth tries to reach around to pull the silver blade out from her back. Blue smoke rises from the wound as Elizabeth struggles and screams.

"Come on, let's get out of here" Jessica urges, her flight response getting the better of her once again.

"No. Let's do what we came here to do" Catherine says calmly. Catherine kicks a struggling Elizabeth to her knees. Elizabeth writhes on the floor, trying to pull the blade out, but it's just out of her grasp. Jessica can hear footsteps approaching. Whatever we do, we better do it fast.

Catherine nonchalantly yanks the knife from Elizabeth's back, eliciting another shriek from Elizabeth. Catherine proceeds to quickly stab Elizabeth about a dozen times in the back. Jessica covers her mouth in horror at the violent outburst. Elizabeth's blood covers Catherine's face. Elizabeth's body tumbles forward limply, blood pooling around her.

"Is she..." Jessica begins to ask.

"No" Catherine says. Catherine lifts Elizabeth's head by the hair, and cuts through her neck in two savage hacks. Elizabeth's head rolls to the floor. "Now she is."

Jessica doubles over in pain. It feels like a railroad spike is being hammered into her head. Looking over, she sees Catherine on her knees as well. Gradually, the psychic pain passes, and the two vampiresses slowly rise to their feet.

Jade bursts into the room, and screams when she sees Elizabeth's headless body on the floor. She looks at Catherine, drenched in Elizabeth's blood.

"What have you done?" Jade spits, lunging at Catherine. Catherine easily dodges the charge, and stepping behind Jade, wraps her arms around the enraged vampire, pinning Jade's arms to her sides.

"Jade. Jade. JADE. Calm down. It's over" Catherine says seriously. "I don't want to hurt you. I really don't". Catherine releases Jade, who falls to her knees next to Elizabeth's body. Jade begins to weep softly over the body. "Mother. Why" Jade whimpers. Jessica can't help but feel sorry for the vampiress. For the first time, Jade's face looks totally directionless. Elizabeth really was her world. Jessica is relieved, but can't deny that she feels a twinge of sadness over Elizabeth's ****.

She was a monster. But she made me. She nurtured me. Elizabeth was remarkable, if horrible.

"Come on" Catherine says, grabbing Jessica's hand. "Let's find Diana."
