"So, who needs Divine Justice?" asked one of the sword heads.
The Battle of the Ramparts
“Have you tried firing more arrows?!” yelled Uratha as she watched the two lightforged demons slowly climb their way up the side of the wall. Their powerful hands and feet easily dug into the brick walls of the castle as they made their way toward Sylva, Uratha, and all of the ranged attackers John’s side had.
“Maybe if you stopped talking and did a bit more fighting we’d have already knocked those two off!” retorted Sylva as she shot arrow after arrow at the hulking demons. The two made good use of their scaly arms as they blocked the various arrows and magic attacks that were thrown at them. X and Y would simply stop moving, block said attacks, and then continue along their way as if nothing had happened.
“They aren’t stopping!” Uratha said as she finally did something and cast some demonic bolts at the demons. The bolts, like the arrows and arcane bolts, merely bounced off the demons scales as they continued their ascent.
“Yes, I am aware!” snapped back Sylva as she fired off another volley of arrows to no avail. “Everybody, fall back!” ordered the Elven Princess as she increased her fire rate to provide cover for her troops to withdraw.
“And where do you suggest we go, hmm? In case you haven’t noticed anywhere we go they’ll be able to get to us!” Uratha pointed out, much to Sylva’s annoyance.
“We just need to keep our distance from them. Once they are up here, we should be able to actually land an attack and unable to block attacks coming from just one direction!” she pointed out to her demonic ally, who just huffed in acknowledgment of the plan. Uratha and Sylva stayed at the wall as long as they could to slow down the two demons as the rest of the group fell back to the opposite side of the castle in preparation of the demons finishing their scaling of the wall.
“So, what’s your plan now?” asked Uratha, waiting to hear what the Elf had thought up.
“Split into two! Each take one side and we’ll fire together. They can’t block them all if it comes from two sides!” ordered Sylva as her troops split into two and rushed to surround the two demons.
“X, it seems they are surrounding us,” pointed out the blue demon.
“Y, you seem to be correct,” agreed the red demon.
“They will most likely attack us from both sides, thinking we can’t block both attacks,” said X.
“That is why they are on the losing side. Simple tactics like that won’t work on us,” pointed out Y.
“Quick, while they are distracted with talking!” shouted Sylva as both groups launched a volley of arrows and magical bolts flew towards the two demons, who stood back to back.
“Shall we, X?”
“Let’s, Y,” the two said to each other as they let out a mighty roar. A powerful magic swelled up in the two demons that began to swirl around the two. The demons lifted their blades in the air and began to focus the magic around the two into something more solid. Suddenly, a powerful flame erupted around the two as a gale **** wind picked up the fire and spun it around the two.
“Searing Tornado!” the two yelled in unison as their two attacks combined to burn the arrows to a crisp and deflect the arcane bolts as they touched the fiery winds. The attack continued to spread out and began to catch the Elves in it as well.
“Fall back! Fall back dammit!” shouted a panicked Sylva as her troops began to be burnt alive by the powerful move.
“Princess, help!” screamed an archer before she got caught up in flames. Her screams echoed through Sylva's head as she saw a dear friend melt away from the intense heat.
“You...YOU DEMONIC FILTH WILL PAY FOR THOSE LIVES!” screamed Sylva as she focused a large portion of her magic into an arrow and fired it. The arrow shone brightly as it left Sylva’s bow and flew straight for its targets. The two demons turned their attack towards the arrow, intent on burning it to nothingness like the others. The Light Arrow was unfazed by mighty attack and instead pierced right through it was if it didn’t exist at all. X and Y quickly hunched together and brought up their scaly arms in an attempt to block the attack but when the tip touched their skin, its power exploded forth, a large portion of the wall was engulfed in a ball of energy that poured out of the arrow.
The powerful explosion even caught the attention of the warring troops in front of the castle, as soldiers on both sides momentarily stopped their fighting to bare witness to the bright flash of light that blinded them from seeing a portion of the castle.
Moira and Fran, who moments before had their weapons locked together in the midst of their fight, stopped their sisterly feud to look upon the fierce battle that was happening above them to determine who would have ranged support in this battle.
Even John and Lord Brighton had stopped their struggles to look at the commotion that had knocked them out of their own world as they battled each other to witness two powerful attacks meet at the ramparts of John’s castle.
Uratha, the remaining Elves, and a heavily breathing Princess Slyva all looked upon the ball of light as it slowly receded, hoping that their enemy had been incinerated by the power of the attack. Every part of the castle that the move had touched was disintegrated. The two demons were no more as far as anybody could see. A giant hole was now clearly visible in wall from the battlefield but the Order did not have the spare troops to take advantage of the gap.
“You...you did it!” exclaimed one of the Elves.
“All hail Princess Sylva!” said another. The Elves let out cheer after cheer as they all thanked their leader for destroying the two demons that had killed many of their kin.
“I...I don’t believe it,” Sylva said as tears streamed down her face. “Everyone, have a quick rest. We will mourn the fallen after this battle is finished. But they need our assistance on the field to beat back the Order’s numbers!” Sylva told her troops. Even Uratha cracked a smile as she saw the Elves celebrate their victory.
Their celebrations were cut short as the ramparts shook from the landing of X and Y, slightly singed from the attack but otherwise fine.
“That was close, brother,” X said to Y.
“Agreed, brother. Good thing we collapsed the floor to escape,” Y replied to X.
“Now, shall we slaughter these heretics in the name of Lord Brighton?” asked X.
“Yes, let’s,” Y told X as the two lifted their swords and got in an attack position as the blades of their swords became wrapped in fire and air.
“No, it can’t be! The Light Arrow should have disintegrated you! That...that was my most powerful attack...if they survived that...” Sylva trailed off as she realized that she had failed not just herself, but her people. Their future, their safety, gone. All because she was unable to kill these two demons. She heard her kin cry to her for orders and asking what they should do. But Sylva no longer knew. These beasts were too powerful for her.
The two demons slowly made their way forward, cutting down any Elf that attempted to stop them. Each Elf attacked in an attempt to slow down these monsters so their beloved leader could think of a way to save them. Instead, all Sylva saw was her people needlessly throwing their lives away to protect a failure of a leader.
“How pathetic!” Uratha said with contempt in her voice as she witnessed Sylva just lay on the ground and do nothing as her people died all around her. “How anyone could follow you, I’ll never understand,” she said as she used her hand to flip some of her hair. “Ah well, never let trash do a job only a demon can do,” she said with a clear sense of superiority as she watched the 1st Hell Army flooded out of the portals she had summoned and swarmed the two larger demons.
"Now, you two ready for a real lady to give you a good time?" asked Uratha as she licked her lips.
