"You'll pay for what you've done!" John shouted as he parried the attack.
X & Y Summoned
“Begin the summoning process of X and Y!” ordered one of the higher ranking summoners.
“But sir, are you sure?” asked one of the newly promoted summoners, who was clearly afraid of what his superior asked him to do. The older man showed a hint of anger at being questioned over his orders from a newly promoted green summoner.
“These orders come directly from Lord Brighton himself. Do you think you know better than the leader of the Order, boy?” asked the summoner in an annoyed tone.
“I...uh...no sir, I don’t,” the boy said as he gave his boss a quick nod and moved over to the circle to summon one of the two weapons of the Order. The group gathered together and began to focus their mana on the intricate runes that were in the center of the mage circle. Slowly, their mana manifested itself and moved from the Order summoners to the runes in visible pulses.
“Hey, Green Arrow, I think we should focus on that over there!” Uratha yelled to Princess Sylva as she pointed to the two new summoning groups.
“My name is Princess Sylva, not Green Arrow!” an annoyed Sylva told her demonic ally as she moved closer to Uratha to see what she was pointing at. “Well of course we’re gonna stop that,” the Elven archer agreed as she witnessed the summoning happen. “It seems they switched whatever they are summoning since those two groups are made up of people from earlier groups. Although there is that one over there from earlier,” Sylva said as she pointed to a lone group of summoners.
“Well, what should we attack?” asked Uratha as she filed her nails, seemingly indifferent to the battle that raged around her.
“Archers, focus on that new group of summoners! Whatever they decided to summon now can’t be good for us!” ordered Sylva. Her troops gave out a roar of understanding as the archers changed their targets and made it rain arrows upon the summoners.
“Incoming!” yelled one of the Order warriors.
“Quickly, protect the summoners! Once they are finished, we won’t have to worry about those damned archers anymore!” ordered one of the Lieutenants. The soldiers obeyed the orders they received and threw themselves in front of the flurry of arrows that rained down from the castle. Many of the warriors had equipped large shields to deflect the incoming arrows, but many soldiers just used their armored bodies to protect their fellow soldiers. Most of the arrows bounced off the worn armor, but enough pierced the metal and hit the vital organs of the soldiers.
The summoners continued to pour their mana into the runes as they attempted to ignore their fellow soldiers fall as arrows meant for them pierced their armor and tore through their flesh. Some of the summoners took all of their will to hold back any sort of emotional outburst to continue on their task.
“Just a little longer! We almost have them summoned!” announced the head summoner. “Soon we’ll have these two here and those dirty El-” the summoner was cut off as an arrow tore through his throat, blood spurting from the wound as his hands grabbed his neck in a futile attempt to stop the bleeding. But blood trickled out from between his fingers as he first fell to his knees and then to his stomach, dead. But his **** would not be in vain as the rune in each of the circles began to emit a powerful light that shot up into the sky. It was so bright and high that it caught the attention of every fighter on the battlefield, who each gave it a quick look before they continued their fighting.
“You know, you could be helping!” shouted Sylva between shots of her bow and arrow.
“Nah, I’m good,” Uratha said as she now began to paint her nails, completely aloof to the battle that raged around her.
“You’re supposed to help me fight!” yelled Sylva between shots.
“I’m here to assist you if you have trouble and right now you seem to have everything under control. Maybe if those zealots start coming over the walls, then I’ll think about helping you. Till then, I got some nails to paint,” Uratha said as she didn’t miss a stroke of the neon color she had chosen for her fingernails.
“This is why I said not to trust the demon...” muttered Sylva as she continued to snipe any Order soldiers she could. She continued with this while giving Uratha a nasty stink eye until two beams of light shot up from the two summoning circles.
“God damn Elf, can’t even rely on you to kill some pathetic humans...” Uratha grumbled as she stopped painting her nails to gaze upon the twin beams that lit up everything in front of the castle.
“Yes, yes, rise twin behemoths of the Order; X and Y! Rise and bring holy justice to our enemies and smite them!” yelled a frantic looking summoner as the lights dimmed down and two creatures were revealed. The two creatures each stood at around 10 feet tall, with muscles covering every part of their bodies. One had a reddish skin while the other had a bluish skin. Both of the creatures had what looked like golden lines criss crossing their entire bodies. On each creatures' left arm were some sort of scales or spikes that seemed to provide natural armor while the other arm lacked the armor but wielded a segmented scimitar. However, the single most important thing everyone noticed was the lack of a head on each body.
“We have been summoned,” said a voice that nobody could figure out where it came from.
“We shall fight for our master, Lord Brighton,” said another mysterious voice.
“For he freed us from the corruption of demons and gave us the blessing of The Lady!” the voices said in unison as the holy demons grasped their respective scimitars in each hand and flipped them upside down, revealing two heads on the hilts of the weapons.
"So, who needs Divine Justice?" asked one of the sword heads.
