Chapter 8 by orangeorangeorange orangeorangeorange

What's your plan?

You consider your options

You've studied pokémon for as long as you can remember. In that time you've encountered many different philosophies on training and battling Pokémon. While they differ in specifics, most fall into one of three broad categories.

Some trainers believe that hitting hard and fast is the best way to secure a win. They generally believe in catching strong pokémon and training them harshly, though not necessarily cruelly. These trainers end up with strong pokémon that have very well practiced, if sometimes limited, movesets and tactics.

Other trainers choose to focus on planning ahead. They try to anticipate every obstacle and have a solution ready for any given situation. Their teams reflect this by having a wide variety of different types that cover each other's weaknesses. The pokémon on their teams are trained in multiple strategies, but can have trouble when faced with unexpected situations.

Finally, there are those trainers that believe in nurturing a pokémon's natural inclinations. They focus on finding out what a pokémon is good at and enjoys, then helping it improve upon that. They tend to train pokémon they forge a bond with, regardless of strength or type. This can leave them with pokémon that are weaker than other trainers', but are fiercely loyal and can possess unexpected abilities.

Which philosophy do you subscribe to?
