It is your birthday

You slowly drift back into consciousness. You all went to sleep after being unable to find any trace of land; you decided to forgo a meal yesterday, so your stomach is growling. It is uncomfortable, made worse by the fact you are sleeping in a chair not designed for the purpose. You are still very tired, caused by how the unpleasant circumstances kept waking you up multiple times during the night. You feel the hot moisture on your bare skin, having taken off most of your clothes to deal with the warmth from the sun.

Haruka is asleep in the chair next to you, curled up into a ball. She followed your example, taking off most of her clothes. She is wearing only her panties, having taken her bra off. Letting you get to look at her small breasts.

Eve has entered hibernation mode to preserve energy.

The light still pours in from behind Haruka, the light shining into onto the right side of your face. If it was not for the fact, you find the moment very relaxing.

You get up, moving, slowly and gently, as to not rock the vessel. You finally give in to your hunger, grabbing a ration pack. This one is spaghetti and meatballs; it tastes pretty good. But you aren't eating it for the taste but to quite your empty stomach. You have a tremendous contest of will to stop eating halfway; you need to preserve as much food as you can. You set the pack aside, resealing it.

"Morning," you hear, Haruka say, starting you.

"You want some food?" You ask, holding out the resealed package.

She grabs the pack beginning to dig in; you wish you both had a more substantial meal before leaving the colony. She greedily finishes the meal, you have noticed in your time together that she takes tiny bites of food. But now she is practically shoveling the food into her mouth. She looks up at you, catching you watching her, she blushes, covering her mouth.

"Uh, sorry," she says, she still has her trademark accent.

"No, don't worry about it," you move back into your chair.

"Happy Birthday," she says, getting out of her chair.

You are taken aback by the comment, not that it is not your birthday. But you wonder how did she know.

"How did you know?" you question her, she sits down on the floor next to you.

"Rachel told me, we had a planned a party," she says quietly.

"Of course," you laugh, as much as you would have liked for her to forget, she never would have.

"We could just spend time together," Haruka says, shyly.

Even after all your time together, she still acts timid around you.

"Not like we have much choice," you say, laughing, "so what was your most memorable birthday?"

"Well, a couple of years ago; before I went on the Arc I had a boyfriend," she says.

"It was my birthday, my parents and I had celebrated earlier; so my boyfriend at the time, was able to go out together," Haruka is smiling.

"Well he tells me we are going to celebrate, and we end up at his house," she continues.

She says, "well we go in, and his parents and relatives were all there."

"No," you say, laughing.

"Yes, it was the weirdest surprise party," she laughs.

"We only dated for a couple of days after that," her smile begins to fade, "until he dumped me."

"Oh, sorry," you say, getting sober, "he wasn't good enough for you anyway."

"No, he wasn't," she smiles again, she blushes at you, "we were never intimate, you know, you were the first... that time..."

You get closer to her, moving up in your seat, "I know, it was wonderful."

She moves forward as well, kissing you, quickly. You can feel her face rub up against your unshaven face. You feel her hand begin to touch your leg, rubbing up against it.
