Ed wakes in the desert a third time

Ed woke up naked and alone with broken black slabs marking a highway which stretched out before him through what seems to be an endless desert. The sky appeared lighter than before as the night breaks and the sun declares its intention to rise.

Ed looked down at his body, its muscled and ripped just like the character that he'd designed.

"Fuck" Ed declared loudly hearing his voice for the first time, the voice that didn't remotely sound like his. It was deeper than normal and almost rumbled from his chest. The surprise momentarily distracted him from the recent events and he sung quietly to himself for a moment partly from shock and partly from his sanity slipping away after recent events. Aware that no one else was around Ed began to sing louder and louder until his voice boomed across the desert and rocks around him. With no rocky outcrops to block his view Ed watched the sun rise over the desert sand dunes with wonderment at the beauty of the colours brought forth as the sun illuminated the sand dunes.

Ed started his journey once again along the meandering path but after the disappointment of his failed attempts he turned and ran into the desert hoping to discover something new. Unfortunately the further he went in this direction the environment became even more barren. Ed didn't understand how that was possible but whereas before there were rocks and trees dotted around, now there was only sand.

The heat from the sun whose beauty Ed had recently appreciated became unbearable and he soon began to suffer from heatstroke. Ed got turned around but past a few more sanddunes Ed stumbled across evidence of some ruins. Unfortunately nothing was able to survive there.

He ran onwards with the heat once again blistering his exposed body, he ran until exhaustion, walked and then ran again. It seemed as though he would never be able to leave the desert and he began to despair at never find his way free from this hell. After what seemed an eternity he crested a sanddune and saw the scrubland return before him.

With renewed hope he pressed on picking up some rocks as he ran hoping to find a use for them at a later time. He noticed some trees dotted around before him and collected some branches which had fallen from it.

Ed soon came to a cliff ledge, gazing out he saw a glistening river flowing beneath him.

There was still daylight, he felt a moment of hope that this cycle of **** and rebirth could be broken.
