Twelve

You see the button for the twelf floor being hit. That’s legal if you remember correctly. You stand up and begin to walk away just as the guard rounds the corner.

You breathe a sigh of relief when he doesn’t follow you. You get to the elevator and hit the down button. The elevator arrives a minute later.

You step inside the empty elevator and hit twelve. The elevator rises and the door opens.

You step outside into a poshly decorated floor. You make your way to reception.

Sitting in a desk is a pale, model perfect girl. Her cherry red lips curl up into a quizzical smile.

“What brings you to legal?”

“I’m looking for a friend of mine.”

She eyes you hungrily leaning forward and giving you a view of her impressive alabaster cleavage. “I’m afraid you’ll have to be more specific.”

“Carrie.”

“Oh, Vespa’s new hire. She’s in the conference room. I’m sure she’d love to see you. She’s probably getting a bit peckish about now.”

You’re puzzled by her response. As you walk by she eyes you like a cat eyeing a mouse.

As you walk through the office, you admire the gorgeous well dressed women on the floor. You note there is almost a three to one ratio of women to men. Several of them eye you like a hawk eyes a mouse. You quickly find conference room one and step inside.

Your jaw drops. Carrie is curled up in a ball in the corner of the room. There is a sheen of sweat on her body and she looks pale.

You rush to her side and nudge her. “Carrie?”

She doesn’t respond. A glint Of metal from across the room catches your eye. You realize it’s Carrie’s grandmother’s cross.

Carrie groans.

You wonder, should you get help, or just get her out of here.
