Fuu is set against a swamp troll

It was a few arduous minutes before the announcer's voice could be heard, echoing muffled through the stone above Fuu. She waited patiently, eyes closed in meditation and she thought about the battle ahead. She was confident she could tackle most mundane foes they might throw at her with her martial skills alone, but she could still feel the collar around her neck dampening her connection to the Goddess. Perhaps she would be able to pull off a bit of magic if pressed, but it would be difficult.

A sudden deep rumbling mixed with the sound of grinding stone pulled Fuu back to reality. The guards stood over her, one of the pointing toward the far end of the room, where a massive stone slab was receding into the ceiling to reveal a long passage upward. The roaring of the crowd and the announcer's fading voice poured in through the opening.

With the guards watching her every step, Fuu made her way upward and stepped out into the large stone ring of the arena floor. "There you have her, in the flesh! Look at that confidence, that physique! What a sight to behold!" Fan'zwit'zal boomed. Fuu found herself idly wondering why he would be speaking in common while her eyes scanned around for her foe.

"Fuu looks as ready as they come! But, is she prepare to face an enemy dragged up by a whole host of our warriors from the deepest depths of the jungle? Can she face a thing that lives beyond the paths that even the bravest dare to walk?!" His building anticipation didn't get to Fuu. She just had to stay focused and do what she came here for. Fuu dropped into a combat ready stance a part of the floor in front of her started to recede, leaving an open gap like the one she had climbed out of. "What will Fuu do... when faced with a Swamp Troll!"

Angry, commanding voices echoed up from the opening, followed by a furious bellow. Fuu grit her teeth as she watched a moss covered behemoth come lumbering up the steps, eyes filled with rage as it stumbled into the arena. Her grip tightened against the spear. The creature stood nearly eight feet tall with limbs as long as Fuu's entire body and a head that looked like someone had taken some sort of ape and squashed and elongated it. The bulbous nose and beady eyes only further exaggerated it's bizarre appearance. It stood hunched forward and gave another enraged bellow as the stone slab slid shut behind it.

Fuu noticed a few small red marks in the back of the creature, presumably where the guards had stabbed it to urge it up onto the stage. Even as she watched, the small wounds began to close up, and by the time the creature turned it's wild eyes to stare at Fuu, it was already completely healed.
