Family Dinner

With Karisi at the head of the table, you to her left, Lexie sitting next to you and then Zoe was to her right. The four of you sat around and began to enjoy the spoils of the castle's kitchen which included some of the juiciest, freshest meat you've ever had as well as bread, cheese, out of the garden carrots and some wine. All of you besides Karisi never tend to eat such fancy meals and usually just eat whatever you can manage through out the day so being able to indulge in these glorious foods during this mid day storm was fantastic.

"This." Zoe has both her hands on a drumstick "Is." her face is gnawing into the dark meat "Amazing!!!!" she squeals as juices and sauces are all covering her face.

"Don't get use to it!" Lexie replies as she follows suite and picks up her own drumstick "Unless your spoiled like our dear old Queen!" she jests.

"Oh come on!" Karisi rebuttals "You all are more than welcome to join me anytime for meals and you could have this type of food every day if you want."

"Yeah but the castle is just so far away from the Training Grounds" you reply "While we are training hard working on our skills we don't have time to come all the way to the castle two or three times a day." you rip the piece of bread in half and take a bite "But what would be nice, is if our dear Queen actually cared about us and sent the food down to us on the Training Grounds. Like, delivery to us! Ehh?" you smirk.

"Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!" Zoe replies "I like that idea! Come on Karisi! Pleeeeease!" Zoe's face chows back down on the meat before tearing off a piece of bread and using it to wipe the juices from her face before inhaling the piece.

"You guys are annoying!" she smiles "And so filthy!" she laughs as she seems to be the only one that is actually using utensils while she eats her meal.

"Sooo..." Lexie begins "Care to tell us what that extremely affectionate hug on my man was all about?" she takes a drink from her water glass.

You just advert your gaze to the Queen curious if she'll be honest with Lexie or Zoe or if she'll make up some type of story.

Karisi takes a long sip from her wine before setting it down on the table and looking between Lexie and Zoe "My father is here." she lets out "He's not doing well and he's actually resting now." she looks at you with a smile "Darien helped me out, a lot." you reciprocate her thanks with a simple nod.

"Your father? Wow" Lexie puts her food down and just looks at the Queen "Ya know, now that I think about it I don't know a single thing about your personal life Karisi. You like to keep all your friends in the dark!" she smiles "Come on Karisi, open up a bit!"

"Oh come on, no need for that..."

"Karisi! Yes! You should open up! You know soooooo much about all of us but none of us know too much about you. Come on! Please please please!?" Zoe chimes in "I think you need to open up with us Karisi! We want to get to know you!" she thinks the idea is perfect. "You have to now! You just have to!"

"I don't think that's a very good id..."

"Yeah, come on Karisi." you cut her off and give her a grin. "You have to!"

"I hate you all." she slumps back in her chair "Why are you guys so needy!" she tries to brush it off.

"Because we're your friends and we want to know a little bit more about you!" Lexie replies. "So tell me about your folks!"

"Yeah Karisi! Folks, folks, folks!" Zoe cheers on.

With a deep sigh Karisi admits defeat "Dad is here and dying and Mom is already gone." she pauses and then goes to start to eat some more of her meal.

"Whoa whoa whoa!" Zoe throws her hands up "You can't just stop at that, come on Karisi! Where from? How long ago? What happened? Tell tell tell!"

"You guys are relentless..." Karisi informs the two Sunrider's "But fine! I'm originally from a small little Rathkin village named Frell. My father is here, obviously, but he's not doing well according to him which means I have no idea how much longer he has in this life. My mother passed away just a few years ago due to natural causes or at least that's what I was told." she hesitates "I also have an older brother."

"Wait, what?! Really?" Lexie questions "You have a brother??? Where is he?"

"No clue. He's about a decade older than me and my father didn't treat him very well. The instant he was old enough to leave home he left. It caused my mother to become distant from my father but they stayed together to continue to raise me. As for my brother though, no one ever heard from him again, I'm guessing he's gone as well." she seems to have no emotional attachment at all.

"He could still be out there! We should search for him!" Zoe is ever so optimistic.

"Could be, sure. I wanted to search for him so I left for Rathkin as I knew I couldn't stay in Frell, even though my parents practically begged me too because they didn't want to follow me but didn't want to lose another kid. My father says it stressed my mother out and that's why she ended up passing away so early in life, still now, he basically blames me for her ****. I know that's not true, but still" Karisi clears her throat "Anyway, after I went to Rathkin and became who I became I spent a lot of resources looking for my brother, using everything I could to find any information about him but no luck, so honestly, I have no clue. It's almost like he just faded from existence and nobody has ever heard of him." Karisi shrugs "It is what it is, I didn't know him very well and as I said, him and my dad constantly would fight at home to honestly that's some of my only memories of him."

"I'm sorry Karisi." Lexie looks sadden at the story the Queen just said "Maybe he's still out there, you never know, what's his name?"

"Caius. His name was Caius."

"Well, we'll keep an ear opened for Caius." Lexie smiles at her Queen.

"Thanks you guys, but don't stress it, I'm sure he's not around anymore." Karisi doesn't want to get attached. "Plus I don't really want to wor..."

With a loud creek the door to the Kitchen opens up as two Sunrider's come shuffling inside "Queen Karisi, you have to come quick, we have an issue that needs your attention!" One of them says "Oops, sorry!" She salutes "Queen, we request your..."

"That's okay Sunrider!" Karisi stands up from the table as the rest of you follow suite "What can I help you with?"
