"I'm sorry, Morgan," Grace says, spreading her palms wide. "Miss Caldwell never much liked me either." She smiles. "But your hair, that's extraordinary. No one will mistake us for each other after this."

"Can I touch it?" Grace asks.

You sigh and nod. "Oh, very well," you say.

She reaches out toward your head. There's a snapping, crackling sound. Grace draws her fingers back abruptly. "Oh!" she says. "That smarted."

"Sorry Grace, it just does its own thing," you say. "Emily Leopard somehow hexed it alive, and I'm hoping to get it under control."

"Short of chopping it off?" Grace says.

"Yes. I don't want to give Leopard the satisfaction," you say. "That's why I was hoping you'd be in good odour with the Librarian. Do you have any other suggestions?"

Grace laughs. "The only odour Miss Caldwell likes is old books," she says. "I suppose can ask around and see if anyone else has worked with that sort of conjuration. Maybe ask again in a couple of weeks?"

"Or sooner?" you say.

"You thirsty nymph," Grace says, giving you a grin. "Don't you have a girlfriend? TWO girlfriends?"

"Well," you say. "At least one. Hoping the other will see our dramatic gesture as a declaration of love."

"Or lust?" Grace says, tilting her head.

You laugh. "Good enough," you say. "I suppose I'd better run along."

"I suppose you'd better," Grace says. "We're not the bunny rabbits that House Beavertail's witches are."

"Alas and alack," you say. "Fare thee well."

Grace bids you farewell with a laugh.
