Can Meagan help Chloe figure out her problems?
A red-head, a brunette and a blonde walk into a bar...
Chloe stared across the table at Meagan, a fellow player on the soccer team and her long-time good friend. If it was anyone else, Chloe might have felt wary of divulging all the naughty and salacious activities she got up to, but she knew that Meagan would be the one person who wouldn’t judge her. In fact, the white haired, grey eyed girl would likely only encourage more licentious and sexy behaviour. But before Chloe could even speak to explain all that her friend had missed, Meagan spoke first.
“There’s something different about you,” Meagan remarked, pursing her lips to one side and narrowing her eyes at the red-head. “You’re all aglow…like you got laid.”
Chloe’s cheeks blushed as inflamed as her hair and she coughed loudly. “Like…like I said, there’s, ah, a lot that’s happened.”
Meagan’s eyes widened, and she leaned over the table excitedly. “Huh? You finally fed the wolf? Who was it? Tell me, tell me…tell me it wasn’t that guy who was just in here?”
“What? No way!” Chloe laughed, both at the idea of herself with the hulking black guy and at how eager Meagan was to hear the sordid details. “Well, the first time was with a guy that you don’t know. He’s a cousin of a friend…”
“Hold up, the first time?” Meagan let out a high-pitched squeal. “I cannot believe I missed the unleashing of the sexy werewolf upon the world. I bet those boys didn’t know what hit them.”
“Hmm, actually, he was just the first to take that virginity,” Chloe noted, thinking and not thinking of what she was actually revealing. “If we count anal, I guess that would be Zack.”
“Holy shit, you gave up your ass before your pussy? And to Zack Bishop!” Meagan fanned her face, so overexcited she thought she might faint. “You know I think Chloe McRose’s asshole is one of the 66 seals of the apocalypse. Clearly we are in the end times.”
“Shut up, Meg,” Chloe growled, without malice, as she sat up straight and folded her arms. “It was a very…sensitive time. I thought I was sick.”
“You are sick. You keep denying who you are,” Meagan teased. “Say it with me now, ‘I am a sexy werewolf’…you didn’t say it…”
“Isn’t the point of a werewolf that they only come out at certain times? Doesn’t it defeat the purpose if I’m always a sexy werewolf?” Chloe questioned.
“What’s the harm in giving yourself over to the moonlight? You seem to enjoy it. Seriously, Chloe, you’re like a whole new woman.”
“Because the last time I just let myself go, I wound up riding Gavin’s morning wood and getting busted by his girlfriend. They’ve broken up now and I totally instigated that,” Chloe revealed, her tone serious and morose. “Zack cheated on me and I **** Gavin to cheat on his girlfriend, all because I wasn’t thinking about anyone’s feelings but my own.”
“Gavin…wow,” Meagan said, genuinely surprised, and then, seeing Chloe near tears. “Hey, hey now, it’s not so bad, and it’s definitely not entirely your fault. Gavin can make his own decisions and I bet if you were bouncing on his cock, he wasn’t rushing to push you off.” Meagan looked at her with a wide-eyed grin as Chloe wiped the tears from her cheeks. “Tell me, have you fucked everyone up at that cabin yet?”
Her mind instantly went to Brandon, as if he were the last rare piece in some precious collection, but he was gone. And it wasn’t like she wanted to complicate matters further. She also thought of Ashley, Heather and Victoria, but she knew that Meagan had only meant guys. Though, that might change when she learned what was next.
Swallowing, and blushing, Chloe replied, “Nope, just those three guys…and one girl.”
“A girl?” Meagan’s jaw dropped. “Oh shit, my sexy werewolf is an omnivore.”
“I guess so. I mean, that’s kind of what I’ve been struggling with,” Chloe admitted, pouting ponderously. “Some of the girls on the football team are lesbians, like you, right?”
“More than a few,” Meagan agreed and licked her lips. “Though, who can blame them? All those fit, slender bodies in the showers after practice. It’s enough to make even the straightest arrows curl.”
“Yeah, but that’s just it. I’ve never been tempted. But there’s this one girl, and she’s so tempting, and when I’m with her, I feel so hot too, like I’m tempting her too. And she’s just so much fun,” Chloe asked, looking to her friend for a genuine answer. “But, does that mean I’m a lesbian? Or bisexual? Or is it just her?”
“Who cares,” Meagan insisted with a shrug, though it wasn’t a dismissal of Chloe’s feelings, just her trepidation. “Do you know why I keep urging you to let loose? It’s not because it’s hot, though it totally is, or because it’s the only thing you have to offer, because honestly, you’re funny and athletic either way. It’s because the werewolf knows what it wants, and it takes it.”
While Chloe silently considered Meagan’s advice, her white-haired friend looked at her watch and, seeing the time, jumped to her feet out of the booth. Chloe barely had time to look up before Meagan went barrelling out of the bar.
“Shit, sorry, I gotta go,” Meagan called to her over her shoulder, running and waving as she left. “Text me later.”
“Yeah, sure, Meg,” Chloe replied, waving back despite Meagan already being half way out the door.
The door didn’t shut, instead, as Meagan left, Heather and Ashley stepped inside the sleepy little bar, Heather striding in with Ashley on her heels. The blonde was badgering her dark-haired friend about something, but Heather was refusing to listen.
“There she is.”
Chloe watched their approach, bewildered and confused how they could be here already. How long had she sat around thinking about her problems? And, of course, just as she was on the cusp of a revelation, the other girls had to arrive and break her train of thought.
“Was that Meagan Volland I just saw rushing out?” Heather asked, curiously, taking the seat opposite, Ashley sliding in beside her.
“Yeah, she was just passing by and saw me waiting,” Chloe explained quickly, noticing Ashley’s restless expression.
“Ok, now will you tell me what happened in the office,” Ashley asked of Heather, clearly frustrated and impatient.
“What? What office?” Chloe asked, thinking about the revelation that Hannah had told her this morning about Carlos’ arrest and Robert Ravers’ plan. Hannah might have been sure that Robert was innocent, but Chloe still wasn’t convinced. And if Heather and Ashley had been to his office… “Heather said she had an errand to run before she picked me up, but she never mentioned an office. Was it Robert Ravers’ office?
“Yup, but it’s a long story. One I’d be glad to tell you, but first I’d like to know what Heather said to her father?” Ashley explained, glancing irritably at the dark-haired cheer captain. “She said she’d tell me on the way over, and then she said it’d be better to tell us both at the same time.” She looked to Heather. “So, come on then, out with it.”
“In a minute, first, I want to hear about Chloe’s date,” Heather replied, waving Ashley off. “Staying the night with Hannah Woodsen. I’m surprised. I didn’t think you had it in you.”
“Me neither,” Chloe admitted as Ashley huffed. “It was all very heat of the moment, seat of our pants kind of stuff, but, honestly, I had a lot of fun.”
“A lot of fun? I’m gonna need more detail,” Heather leaned over the table, chin in her hands. “Where did she take you? What did you do there? How far did you guys go?”
“Ugh, I don’t think I need to hear this,” Ashley turned in the booth, facing away from Heather and hanging her head as she shielded her eyes as if the conversation were a bright light she could simply block out.
“She took me to an old amusement park out on the other side of town. It was quite quaint, and a little run down, but it was kind of cool in a sort of nostalgic, at least they’re trying, type of fashion,” Chloe answered, figuring the best way to Heather’s news was just to power through. “We rode the Ferris Wheel, played some games, ate some cotton candy, watched a-”
“Wait, the amusement park? Oh wow, I haven’t been there in years. I didn’t even realise it was still standing,” Ashley marvelled, momentarily forgetting her annoyance. “We used to go there all the time as kids. I remember it being a lot of fun.”
“It was. It’s really underappreciated, which is a shame. With just a little help I could see it drawing a lot more people,” Chloe agreed, smiling as she remembered how Hannah had spoken of the park with a soft, sentimental joy. “Hannah had a lot of fond memories of that place, which is why she wanted to take me there. And then she kissed me on the Ferris Wheel.”
“It was nice of her to ruin my memories of the place,” Ashley sighed.
Heather ignored her. “The old amusement park, you say? I didn’t even realise that placed existed. What happened after the kiss? Did you go back to her place then?”
“Nearly, but then I saw a fortune teller. Silly I know, but I decided to let fate influence me, since the whole dating a girl thing was kind of new to me and I was really in two minds about it,” Chloe admitted, feeling her face glowing red. “All signs pointed to yes, so I decided to join her back in her apartment…and that’s all I’m going to say about that.”
“Chloe, you dawg,” Heather teased.
“Thank you for not kissing and telling,” Ashley replied with a weak smile. “I don’t have any brain bleach handy.”
“Wait, so what does this mean for you and Hannah? Are you dating? Are you friends with benefits?” Heather asked, genuinely curious. “Are you a lesbian now?”
“Not a lesbian. Maybe bisexual, I guess, or maybe it’s just Hannah. I honestly don’t fucking know,” Chloe exhaled, hard and abrupt. “That’s what I’ve been sitting here thinking about all morning. Hannah left it open, telling me to figure out what I wanted but I seriously have no idea what I really want. All I know is that I enjoyed last night a lot.”
“That’s Hannah for you,” Ashley said sympathetically. “She’s very carefree with her heart. Most people would figure this stuff out first, but Hannah is extremely ‘sex first, ask questions later.’”
“I think we’ve all been guilty of that lately,” Heather admitted, running a hand through her hair, deep black in the dim light of the bar.
“Honestly I think I just need a distraction, to put it in a drawer in my mind and come back to it later,” Chloe said resignedly.
“Yes, exactly, Chloe, and I know just the thing,” Ashley replied, her face brightening as she turned to look at the heir apparent of the Ravers’ vast business empire. “So, tell us, Heather, did Robert do it? Or did he even admit to it if he did?”
It wasn’t that Heather Ravers didn’t want to tell the two other girls. Just that, because it was good news, it didn’t seem all that urgent. And besides, it was also bad news for Lisa. Without Robert Ravers, there was no other credible suspect or probable leads. Heather had been struggling, racking her brain to come up with another viable option. But at this point the most likely culprit was someone on her father’s board of directors. And if that were the case, there was very little their rag-tag group of teen detectives could do, and her father had already said he’d handle it. But something like that probably wouldn’t satisfy Ashley, or Zack for that matter.
Can the girls get to the bottom of the mystery?
