Head back to the entrance

You have an easy time finding your way back to the hillside doorway. That far from the main maze of tunnels, it's really just one tunnel anyway. You carefully open the door and find no one about. Happily, you move forward into the early morning sunlight. It feels good on your flesh and you feel invigorated by it.

It is only by luck that the first shot misses you. A high-pitched "whip-snap" sound announces the near miss. Without thinking, you are off and moving, headed as fast as you can away from what you perceive to be your attacker.

You're far faster than the humans and there are only two more shots; neither so close, before you're breaking through another treeline and detecting no sign of your pursuers. Still, you're not dumb.
