The Dragoness

It was not long ago that you emerged from an obsidian shell and took your first real breaths.

You stared with curiosity at your scaled siblings with leathery wings just as yours—some blue, some purple, some crimson red. You, on the other hand, inherited the same reddish-pink hue as your mother.

Your father, an elder dragon of massive size and power, smiled at you. "This one will make another drake very happy some day," he said with a grin, examining your scales. That was the first and last you saw of him.

After that, it was bathing in lava and learning to burn scraps of paper with little licks of flame. One day, your mother announced that it was time to learn to fly. And with that, her massive tail knocked you of your cavern and sent you plummeting into the icy depths of the mountain below.

Apparently, you were a mature drake now. Ready for the world.

And so, your travels began. You made your way southward, passing by human villages and caravans and hills and livestock. It was a dragon's duty to raze and terrorize such places, but you wouldn't be big enough for that for many, many years. You had learned that each act of conquest could spur a dragon's growth spurt, giving you the opportunity to become the majestic beast that humans long feared.

At the moment, you didn't look very intimidating. You were shorter than the average human, and stood upright on two legs just as them. The only real difference was the red-pink scales, small, leathery wings, and your head's unmistakenly draconic features. But you had claws, at least.

Now, it was the time to find a proper cave.
