A signal

You look down at the amber-colored screen for the suit, a bright, alert message is printed upon its screen. You look closer at it finding that it is a signal from one of the Arcs, this one identifying as The Asteria.

“Haruka!” You exclaim, “It’s a signal from The Asteria.”

“Where is it?” She asks, shivering clear in her voice, “Is it close?”

Your mind races, you might be saved, you might survive this ordeal. If you can get to The Asteria, you might be able to survive in this frozen landscape. You begin trying to pinpoint its location so you can reach it.

“Haruka, go stand over there” you order.

Haruka does so slowly moving over to around the spot you pointed, straining against the suits attempts to keep her still.

“OK I’m going to use the signal from me, you, and the ship to triangulate its location.

You begin to work on it, the cold wind is slowly overpowering the heater in the suit; you feel your fingers and toes start to turn numb. You scrunch them up, trying to get feeling back into them. You know you cannot stay out here much longer.

“OK, got it!” You cheer.

“Where is it?” Haruka asks.

Your heart sinks when you see where it is ~10,600 feet below you, or ~2 miles below the ice (~3.2 kilometers.) How the hell did it get down, and how are you going to reach it.

“What the...” you say.
