Continue ignoring Rachel

As you follow the path from Woodsbroke to the main trade route you start to get a little nervous. This was real life and it suddenly hit you just how dangerous this could be. One wrong move and you'd be in for a fate worse than a quick **** in many cases. With those nerves came a rush of excitement however and you **** down your second guesses. This was time for adventure and time for action!

As your group reached the edge of the forest Morgath held up his hand. Both you and Rachel stopped.
"Weapons out from here on cadet. Eyes and ears open got it?" He punctuated this by drawing his axe. Rachel and you both drew your weapons, Rachel her bow and you your short sword. Rachel took a half step to the right, probably so if she had to shoot she would have a clear line of fire. Morgath nodded at you both and smiled. "Here we go!" He said, though in a much softer voice now. He started to walk into the forest.
Immediately you got a weird feeling, like something was watching you. Like a lot of things were. You ignored the feeling and pushed forward.

You were walking for around five minutes and the forest had gotten thicker. You couldn't see between the trees as well as you could before. It was by no means impassible but still noticeably thicker. There had been the songs of both birds and insects but there had been no conversation from either ranger. Suddenly you heard a very feminine scream from the right side of the forest accompanied by the screech of birds and they took to the sky.

Morgath froze and held up his hand to signal a halt, though you really didn't need it. Suddenly you palms had gotten sweaty. Rachel had her bow at shoulder level and was scanning the tree line. "That wasn't that far off." She said, her tone was still cold but now it seemed somewhat less poisonous.

"No it wasn't. I would say maybe 70 feet or so." Morgath said with a contemplative voice.

Rachel tensed and shot him a venomous glare. "Don't you do it."

"We aren`t all that deep in the forest and its August. It'll be mostly young and inexperienced mutants out here this time of year."
There was another scream, this one sounding more panicked.

"It's our job Rachel."

"No our main job is to protect the village. Then its to protect whoever pays us. THEN its to rescue dumb fucks who wander where they shouldn't." Spat Rachel. "Hes not ready for it anyway! The cadet here will piss his pants and then the two of us will be stuck fighting whatever has that girl!"
