The Element Of...

Covered in soot, Cassandra leaps her way across the city back to the motel. She makes sure no one is looking enters her room. She turns on the TV and watches the news talk about her heroics.

The banner at the bottom of the screen reads: "Mystery Girl Saves Day Again" The reporter on the screen talks about the incident, "At around 10am this pile of rubble behind me was blazing inferno with multiple people trapped within."

The reporter continues, "Sources tell me that the fire department was having issues starting their trucks, which left the building susceptible to the growing fire. Thankfully Southgarden's own superhero was here to save the day once again."

Footage of Cassandra's heroics play as the reporter speak, "The Mystery Girl arrived on the scene and rushed into the building without hesitation, saving the lives of two people before the building fell crumbling down. I think I speak for everyone here when I say Thank you, Mystery Girl."

Cassandra smiles wide, pleased with herself. She strips down and cleans up in the shower before heading to the laundromat to was her ash covered costume. She puts her clothes in the washer and goes to the liquor store next door to by something to eat.

She grabs a bag of chips and a bottle of soda and goes to the counter. The man at the register is sitting in his chair, seemingly asleep. "Uh, sir?" Cassandra tries to get his attention, "Hey... customer here." The man doesn't move.

Concerned the man might be dead, Cassandra walks around the counter and checks his pulse. The man suddenly opens his eyes and grabs her arm, throwing her across the store. Cassandra crashes through the shelves and slams into the wall on the other side of the store.

"Surprise!"
