Chapter 28 by Actiaeon Actiaeon

What's next?

Travel onwards

You gaze out at the scene, the lush green trees with leaves rimmed with purple. With massive white and green clouds are hanging in the heavy thick air. And think purple moss is covering the trees. And in the backgound the calls of unknown lifeforms.

You begin the trek off towards the settlement, the journey should only take 3 hours, without the distractions, you and Haruka had. The heat and moisture; however has only gotten worse.

"So anything I should worry about" Yasmin asks just behind you.

"Yeah, If you find small white polyps on the ground, do not touch," you say, remembering what happened with Haruka.

"Why?" she asks.

"Just don't," you say trying to leave the issue behind.

She takes the hint and continues to follow.

"So what was your assigned job for the colony, you never did say," she asks.

"Oh, well, I was assigned to be a workman," you say. "A simple miner."

"Oh," she says.

"Yep, just a miner, my father got my family the tickets, and they were the only positions on the Arc," you say.

"Before that, I was an asteroid miner, got into it right out of high school, got really good at piloting the ships too" you laugh "Sure came in handy didn't it?"

"It sure did," she says.

"My sister was still in college when we left for the Arc," you say.

"What about you? I mean, I know about you being an assistant medic, but what else did you do?" you ask.

"My parents always wanted me to go into medicine, my dad particularly, he even sent me to a university in America" Yasmin says "but I always wanted to go into space, be an astronaut, but I never got to."

She pauses and looks around "Well until the Arc program came up, I signed up as soon as I could much to the dismay of my parents. They were sad they would never see me again."

Yasmin gets real quiet, you think she is thinking about her parents; no need to interrupt her.
