Chapter 12 by TheVillain TheVillain

Who finds Bill?

A Good Samaritan

You don't have to lay on the ground pretending to be **** for very long, letting the brush itch and the bugs crawl over you. It's not long at all before you hear roughly the words you were expecting.

"Oh my God! SOMEBODY CALL 111!"

Roughly the words you were expecting. In this world it's 111 and not 911? That's actually good to know. The next part of the plan is admittedly kind of stupid, but it has a chance of working if you totally commit to it. It's not a great plan, but it's a good plan for right now and sometimes that's all you can ask for. You keep pretending you're **** and let out a low moan when it sounds like someone important comes by. When someone tries smelling salts on you, you open your eyes.

Above you is a red haired woman in a uniform you don't recognize, but going by her equipment she seems like an EMT and she looks down at you with a concerned but professional look. The uniform actually looks like it could be official and nice, if the booty shorts are a weird touch.

"Sir, can you hear me?"

"I...uh, yeah. What happened? Where am I?"

"You're in Thatcher Park. Can you tell me the date?"

"Uh, No."

Which was technically true, it was a completely different time of day here.

"How about your name, can you tell me that?"

"...No I can't. Oh God."

"Sir, just relax. We'll be taking you to a hospital right away. What do you remember?"

Yep, the old Amnesia Gambit. It isn't a great idea but they can't trip you up on a detail problem if you don't have any details.

"Something related to the Decline, I think? I don't really get anything specific."

"That's alright, that's a decent bump to the head. Just relax, we're getting you some pants. Can you walk?"

You don't play the card too hard, and show that you can. For now, it's working. They find and bring in a male police officer for the ride to the hospital, even though it takes longer. When he says why it's with sympathy and a level of tact. They think you've been at least mugged, possibly **** or milked and they want to run some tests to be sure. You don't know what milking is, but it's spoken of in the same way you talk about waking up in a bathtub full of ice with a kidney stolen. You feel a little bad for faking the mugging now, but these are **** times. Not that it matters, the tests very quickly come up negative as you secretly expect but pretend to be releaved.

You do act surprised that they can't find any records on you, confused and a little scared even, but you stick to pretending you don't remember anything. They tell you to your face that it's weird, the bump on your head doesn't seem that bad but they'll keep you for observation anyway just in case they're wrong.

It's when you're allowed to just rest that you notice that Nurse's uniforms vary wildly across the hospital. In areas where people's lives are in danger they wear full scrubs, but here in observation there's plunging necklines and barely-there skirts. You pretend to just look out a window, not noticing.
