Camilla sees their phone.

Camilla decided that she would go and talk to Emily's supposed friends from high school. They seemed to be more like her type of people than Emily did, anyways, so talking to them might actually be a little fun. She had to make the most of the rest of her day, now that she and her daughter had parted ways.

There were five of them all together, some skinny, some overweight, all of them awkward-looking and acne-ridden. Classic high school nerds, if she had ever seen one-- and Camilla had seen her fair share in her time. She smiled, happy to see that not everything was so different now as some people claimed it was.

The group of five were gathered in a small circle, chatting amongst themselves. They seemed to be excited about something that Camilla couldn't see. Maybe one of them found a rare piece of merch, Camilla thought to herself. Seeing this group of friends so excited about a huge find reminded her of her own high school friends and made her wish she had spent the day with them instead of trying to **** her daughter to take part in this world that was so different from her usual life.

She didn't want to break up their little pow wow, but now she was feeling curious about what exactly what getting them so worked up in the first place. Was it a comic book? A poster? A vintage t-shirt? Camilla felt like a bit of a creepy old crone trying to watch them from afar, but she just had to know what was going on. It was hard to see with all five of them crowded around, but maybe if she angled it right...

It looked like they were all on their phones. Well, that was a little boring. Maybe things really had changed. Were they playing some sort of game together? That wouldn't be so bad, Camilla thought. At least they'd be having fun together. She craned to try to get a look at what was on their screens, drawing a little closer to make it a little clearer...
