Chapter 18 by Shibbar Shibbar

Time was of the essence.

He gave the crown to Belial

Esau picked up the crown. It was hot, but he knew he couldn't let go of it. He felt it's power. It rattled his body, chittering his teeth. It whispered something to him, something very faint;

Put me on.

He let a deep breath out, resisting this immense temptation. He turned to Belial and stretched his arm out, the flaming crown hanging from his palm.

"You can have it. I don't want it."

"Are you... are you serious? But that's the crown-"

"Just take it before I change my mind!"

Her hands hesitated for a moment, unsure if it was a trick or not, but then they shot out and snatched it up. She swiftly put the crown on her head.

"Gosh, I never thought I'd be the one to-"

She didn't get to finish that sentence, interrupting herself with a sudden piercing scream. Light burst from out of all her holes, her arms frozen in front of her, grasping at air. The keep shook, masonry falling down in clumps, shattering against the ground. The demon court backed away in fear. She looked like she was about to explode from being unable to contain the overwhelming power of the crown. But she didn't. She clenched her fists and gritted her teeth, and to everyone's surprise she managed to assimilate the crown into her being.

The crown smouldered on her head in a peach colour, similar to her skin. She was transformed, though she was still recognisable. Her feet grew spikes from the soles, as if she were wearing high heels. Her tail glittered with golden scales, and fins poked through along the top. Her hips broadened and her breasts expanded, although they did not grow so much that it looked ridiculous. From her back two tiny wings flapped, leathery and grey, and seemingly too small and weak to lift her up. Her claw hand was gone, replaced with a golden gauntlet adorned with rubies, sharp talons instead of fingers. Her face seemed... cuter, with plumper lips, and a bit of blush on her cheeks. She still didn't have a nose, but it didn't detract any. Her hair was much longer, as were her horns, which were no longer just mere nubs; they spiralled high in the air, almost doubling her height. They were black as onyx and intimidating, but elegant and beautiful also. She herself was still rather short however, barely gaining a foot in height, landing her at barely five foot tall.

She took a moment to recover, and blinked.

"Whoah. Now that was something." She pointed her finger at some of the retreating demons. "Fall."

They all fell on the ground, unmoving but probably not dead. She then turned her attention to Esau.

"Don't worry, I'm not going to double cross you or anything. You can leave, I'm not going to keep you here."

"Really?"

"Yeah. I guess I should be annoyed that you didn't accept my contract at the beginning, but since I'm king because of that," she shrugged, "and I can't say it wasn't exciting. It was mostly that succubus though, which speaking of..." She stepped towards Naamah and bent over with her feet together, pinching the onyx spike from her chest. The succubus seemed more at ease, but still ****. "I think I might've grown a little fond of her. I hope she won't mind if I turn the tables on that little encounter we had earlier, when she's better of course." She chuckled.

Esau crossed his arms. It seemed everything came out okay. Except for the fact that he killed his mother. And the sexual acts he had to do and witness. That'll leave some mental scars. Just being in hell definitely will. And explaining what happened here isn't going to be easy. Not to mention who knows what happened in his world while he was away. Anxiety filled him up.

"I suppose I should get going."

"Oh right yeah. Crown tells me the portal back should be through that door over there," she pointed at a small inconspicuous wooden door behind her throne, "don't forget to write or something."

"Belial, I hope you don't take me saying this the wrong way, you being a king now and all, but I never want to have anything to do with a demon ever again. I don't want to see your face until the day I die, and even then hopefully I won't."

"Oh." She twisted her mouth to the side, awkwardly looking away. "Well, I guess I can't help you feeling like that. Oh well. Goodbye."

Esau picked up his mothers corpse, and made his way to the door, opening it up with his knee. He took one last look back, shook his head in regret, and stepped through the swirling portal. It was as if he never left the ritual room. If it weren't for the demonic corpse in his arms and the memories he had, he wouldn't have even guessed he was gone.

He dropped to his knees and sobbed. He felt empty inside.

The End.
