Graduation Day!

“Kara South!”

The announcer calls out your name from behind the lectern, a ripple of applause spreading through the crowd of proud mothers as you stand up and walk up on to stage. As you accept the handshake and the piece of paper that says you managed to not get kicked out of High School, you try to not scratch at the stifling gown you have to wear.

As you sit back down with the rest of your class you spy your mum and younger sisters waving at you from the crowd. You wave back and look over the crowd, wondering how it is that they can all wear so much clothing. Most of them are either under 18, pregnant or past menopause so there is a lot of clothing on display. You feel like you are going to suffocate with just a gown on and it feels almost like a cruel joke. After having to wear stifling clothes through childhood, you finally turned 18 two weeks ago and here you are stuck dressed up like some old timey prude!

You feel a squeeze of your arm and turn to your best friend Martha who looks as sick of this all as you. Of course if she wanted too she could wear this much clothing all the time now. She turned 18 two months before you and the first day she went out after her birthday she bumped into Mr. Cuthers.

It sounded so romantic, she told you how he even used his tongue on her before he took her in the back seat of his car. He had even asked her before her stuck it in. So of course a guy who was so romantic would be the one to get her knocked up. She had been expecting her period a week later and it had never come. Everyone had been congratulating her ever since and looking at her now you can see the happy glow that they all talk about.

You have not been so lucky, you have been so busy with getting everything wrapped up with High School and your plans for the future that you have no even had time to try out the cute clothing you got given for your birthday.

Still it was worth the time, thanks to the work you have put in you are all set to….
