Seeing this, you realize that this could be our only way out of your current situation, and you line up a shot on them, knowing that taking out Derek will distract both Amanda and Maya, leaving Jess in a one-on-two disadvantage, and likely buying enough time for you and Megan to escape.

Part of your mind thinks that there could be a cure, and as such, you don't aim to kill, only incapacitate, even if only for a few minutes. Another part of your mind files the scene into your memory, as it's possible that other incubi have the same reaction to seeing other incubi, that being a mid-air male dominance ritual, which would give others time to either escape or fight back.
