Chapter 19 by Crayman Crayman

THE NEXT DAY....

Work Halloween Party.

The next day you left for work early, just before dawn. Emily was still asleep when you left. She had work later in the afternoon, so you did your best to not wake her. You were the first to arrive to the office, which you always found to be relaxing. You had plenty of time to get work done and had no distractions.

As the time ticked by, your colleagues began to dribble into the office and soon enough it was a full house. You'd already finished your work by twelve which was a relief, so you spent the rest of your day browsing the web. The party wasn't to start until seven o'clock, so you were going to go the shops really quickly to buy a cheap outfit. The whole office went nuts for dressing up, but you were never too fussed about it all. Although from what you've heard, this party was going to be much bigger than previous ones. You weren't sure of the implications, but you thought that it was a perfect event for you and Emily to get too drunk and not be able to go out the following day. That was the plan, anyway.

When the clock passed six, you left the office for the shops. It took you much longer than you thought it would, having not considered the traffic... and the fact that almost all of the local shops were sold out of their costumes. Eventually you found a cheap bargain shop and picked up a cape and fake horns. That was about as much effort that you were willing to put in. You got back to work at half past seven, and it was already packed.

You made your way through the crowded office and noted all the unfamiliar faces. It certainly was going to be pretty wild. You checked your phone and frowned, then texted Emily.

Hey. Are you here yet? I had to duck out.

The plan was to meet at 6:45pm outside of the building, but you didn't see her anywhere. Your phone buzzed a minute later.

Yes.

That wasn't very helpful. You continued to walk pointlessly around the office while keeping an eye out for Emily. You armed yourself with a cold beer, and then another after that. Soon enough it was eight o'clock and you had barely recognised any of the people here.

"I wonder if she works here? God, I'd want to work here if she did." You overheard a man say as you walked by. Another man snickered at the comment, then remarked back.

"They wouldn't get any work done. You'd just be staring at her huge knockers all day." He laughed.

You continued to walk, having a feeling you knew who they were talking about. As you rounded a corner, you saw Emily standing at the opposite side of the room. It took you some time to even recognise her given that she was wearing heavy makeup and dressed like a skeleton. She somehow did it in the sexiest way possible though. She was talking with a few of your colleagues, and even your boss. You doubted they recognised her.

As you stepped closer, you knew immediately that she was very intoxicated by the way she slurred her words, and you guessed that your kind workmates were the kind hosts who helped with that.

"That's very nice of you to say!" You heard her laugh.

"It's true though! I'm shocked that you're not a model." You heard Tom say, he chuckled as he spoke. Emily laughed and playfully shoved him in the arm. She hadn't seen you yet, so you hung low and acted casual while listening.

"Well I guess the other day... I mean, I don't know if I should tell you..." She began to say.

"No, please do tell me. In fact, I order it!" Tom said with a laugh.

"Oh, so assertive! I guess you have to be, to be the manager here huh?" Emily smiled at him seductively.

"Okay fine. The other day I was paid a thousand dollars to flash a guy." She said with a sly smirk.

"Only a thousand!? You've been robbed, miss!" Tom announced dramatically.

"Really? How much do you think I should have gotten?" She asked, mocking a look of astonishment.

"I would have paid you three thousand. And in fact, I would and could right now!" Tom said pridefully, sucking in his large stomach.

Not again... You thought to yourself. You wondered whether you should interrupt. Tom clearly couldn't recognise Emily, so it wouldn't affect your worklife too much and you also really wanted Emily to get more drunk so you didn't have to go to Wendy's party tomorrow.

Do you interrupt?
