What happened to the others?
Missing Bravos
Fuu looked over to where Robin was laying when she last saw her. She was gone with only a scorch mark and the burned, cold bodies of her attackers. Slowly she turned, every movement sending jolts of pain through her tense body. Every muscle was strained and moving too fast caused her vision to white out from the pain.
Where her friends and their attackers used to be, there was nothing but scattered equipment and clothing torn from the Bravos before their defilement.
Surely they couldn’t be gone. Why had they just left her, passed out while sitting up, if they were capturing everyone.
Fuu couldn’t stand, the very idea caused her legs to shudder in protest. She kept turning in place. Surely there had to be some explanation. Surrounding her were the bodies of the two Gnolls she had dispatched before fighting the Chieftain and the body of the Chieftain himself, but that wasn’t all. The Gnoll Champions lay dead nearby with holes punched into their armor and flesh. What had done that damage and yet left her helpless body alone?
“-ss…-iss…Miss?” Fuu didn’t notice the ringing in her ears until the voice cut through it. Fuu turned to the voice, a slight whimper escaping her in her haste. When her vision cleared again, she saw Robin kneeling next to her looking concerned, her arms slightly outstretched as if she wanted to help but didn’t dare touch her.
“-n” Fuu’s voice was barely there, her throat hurting just as much as the rest of her. What had happened? She tried to ask but could only get a small part of a word before her voice turned into a moan of pain. Robin had a tear in her eye. “It’s okay. Don’t talk. Let me patch you up.”
Robin reached down to her belt, which is when Fuu noticed the state of her clothes. Robin was wearing what looked like a rough blanket that was cinched at the waist using her old belt. From the belt she pulled a potion. Fuu noticed the engraving in the cork to be one of Becky’s ideas. Each potion would have a different design carved into the cork so that you could grab one without looking in emergencies. Fuu didn’t allow herself to cry out in pain as Robin tipped her head back and poured the mixture directly down her throat.
The cool mixture flowed down her throat and settled in her, numbing the pain her body had been rocked with since she regained consciousness. As Robin pulled out another and began to carefully take Fuu’s bloody hands, Fuu closed her eyes and tried to find her center.
Her heart was hammering in her chest. She didn’t know what was going on but Robin was still here so surely she could answer. Fuu had to focus on being able to move again. Then she would allow herself to worry.
After a few minutes of Robin’s careful ministrations, the young woman cleared her throat uncertainly. “I uhm. I-I did the best I could.”
Fuu opened her eyes and saw her hands had been bandanged roughly but they no longer throbbed as hard as they used to. “..hank…ou” Fuu swallowed heavily thankfully only dealing with discomfort instead of agony. “Thank you. What happened?”
Robin looked pained but before she could answer, another voice interrupted. “The Gnolls are gone.”
Fuu turned around to see what could only be, judging by her blond hair and sheer bulk, Moriah the Blacksmith’s daughter. She was also wearing a rough blanket as a robe but was walking easily enough as she stood next to the pair of kneeling adventurers. Fuu looked at Robin. “Ran off?”
Robin nodded but Moriah continued talking. “The Gnoll with white fur said they diappeared with some of your party.” Fuu felt tears build up in her eyes as the truth she had been avoiding clicked into place. She had lost them. She had lost them all.
