"Interesting," Hajime said. "And what did I tell you about basic cognition?"

"J-just that mesmerism plays on it," Makoto said. "And, um, that, um, in order to hypnotize someone there needs to be some form of trust?"

She was clearly pulling things off the top of her head, and while she was fumbling, Hajime had to admit he was impressed.
