Chapter 19 by Arthor Thomarius Arthor Thomarius

Views of a Rumpus

"Excuse me." said the dashing stranger before he vanished in a flash step. The young colonel turned in the direction of the disturbance and what he saw was difficult to understand. At first he thought that the handsome traveler was doing some kind of dance for reasons exotic and unknown, then portions of bikini and robe clad bodies started appearing to float in the air and Jacob realized that the mysterious rogue with the strong cheekbones was fighting with multiple invisible enemies. Fighting and winning. Jacob Bourbaalois felt the whole room shake after this fearsome warrior roundhouse kicked what looked like nothing, but turned out to be a well armed elven knight wearing an invisibility cloak that hit the wall hard enough to need a healing potion before she was going to be able to walk again.

Dinarya screamed as the room began to shake. The young lady knelt down to where her **** brother was beginning to stir. "What?..."

"Quickly, summon Freynika." said Dina.

Isaac Valwaaroo felt the emptiness of his shirt pocket before he remembered that he had lost his sister in a card game. Isaac's heart skipped a beat when he realized just how angry his father was going to be when the brigadier found out that his sweet Pumpkin was now owned by some landless crypt-rake. Isaac did not have too much time to contemplate his future before the entire room went black.

Bellanna saw them as soon as her Master did, the spells' effects being transmitted by the link the orc **** shared with the one who owned her. She watched in amazement as her Master appeared right behind the invisible enemies cutting them off from their exit before he grabbed two of the elven commando's by the head and knocked their skulls together. Bellanna did not hesitate. While her Master was tangling up another two of the attackers in their own cloaks of invisibility, Bellanna drew her throwing axes into her grasp, aimed at the elf closest to her, and let rip with all of her orcish might. The axes struck dead on target, unleashing a cavalcade of magical damage which the elf commando completely ignored. The platinum haired elf woman turned to look at Bellanna the way a person might look at an insect in need of squashing.

Jayquelahn felt a pair of blows striking her from behind. The level 85 assassin turned to see an orc woman holding a pair of enchanted axes looking shocked and nervous. The blows had been rather pathetic, but Jayquelahn was surprised by the variety of damage types she had just been made to absorb. The elf assassin spotted a small fortune in enchanted gemstones that the **** wore around her waist. The assassin decided to score some easy loot and pulled out her curved poison daggers. Jayquelahn could not begin to imagine what a **** warrior who hit like they had not even reached level twenty doing with such treasure trove of enchantments, but it did not matter, since those gems would soon belong to her, once she had taken them off the dumb orc sow who did not realize that she was already dead.

Then the whole world went black.

< Resistance is futile, ****. > Titania heard the voice in the back of her head reminding her as the elven princess followed Jadonna, her Mistress the voice reminded her, with meek submissiveness. The girl who had escaped the Elflands and survived years in the wilderness bootstrapping herself into a hardened ranger was starting to believe the voice in the back of her head. Maybe it was all hopeless. Maybe running away and trying to make a fresh start in the big city selling sweet and savory buns from the back of a wagon was naive, foolish, and selfish, maybe she was just a thing that had forgotten how to do what it was told. Titania's thoughts were interrupted when Jerry appeared in front of her. He reached out towards her, but his hands stopped a few inches from the elf ranger's face and looked like he was going to clap them together but stopped in mid air. There was a THUMP sound and Titania saw the bikini clad assassin and the robe clad cleric's bodies on the ground. Titania saw Jerry pull the cloaks over two invisible elf commandos before tripping them up. Titania felt Jerry's strong arms holding her while he worked to undo her collar's clasp. Titania screamed as Jadonna lowered the hood of her cloak to give the appearance of a head floating above a curved sword that had come out of nowhere. The royal guard charged at Jerry who turned to place his body between Titania and her abductor.

At the same moment Titania felt the collar leave her neck and that terrible, cold, alien, voice leave her head, Titania felt the whole room shake. "Are you alright?" Jerry asked her. Before Titania could answer, the whole room went black.

The lady Shebari Bourbaalois had spotted the elven commandos in their invisibility cloaks hours ago when they had entered the gambling and dance hall. The woman had not said anything about the concealed soldiers, but kept her attention upon them even as she watched the gorgeous stranger in the company of the elf and orc woman.
He was a charming fellow, this man who seemingly had a pack of super wolves and the kind of luck that only came from the blessings of the fates or someone who has invented some new undetectable form of cheating. Regardless, Shebari could not help but admire the fellow's skill at the game, and anyone who pissed off Isaac Valwaaroo was good in her book. Shebari was just about ready to turn the pompous git into a toad upon seeing the lout flip over the card table and attack their guest. Watching the stranger knock the brigadier's son on his ass was far more satisfying.

That was when Shebari saw the elves move. They six of the eight elves Shebari could see surrounded the dancing ginger elf girl. Shebari saw the elf girl talking to the invisible people, clearly hearing them without seeing them. The widow Bourbaalois cast Eaves Drop to listen. From the context of the conversation, Shebari picked up that this Titania was a princess on the run from the demon Khan's wedding altar. Shebari watched them collar the wayward elf princess and begin their withdrawal when she heard the stranger say "excuse me." to her twink of a stepson, Jake, before using a high level teleportation skill to cut off the commandos' retreat.

Shebari saw the two disengaged commandos begin work on some kind of spell casting or **** summoning at the same time one of the members of the team broke off from the main group and started moving in Shebari's direction.

Shebari Bourbaalois cast In Total Darkness, plunging the room into black, and got to work.
She started with the assassin, the closest and most immediate threat. Shebari ran past the elf woman and cut her throat with the hidden blades of her enchanted fan and without slowing down, the woman pulled a containment card from within her sleeve that held her favorite tetranaga. Shebari summoned the four armed snake man while she released a handful of wraiths, specters, and poltergeists from the containment charms that jingled at the end of her fan. Shebari used her enchanted bond with her slaves to command them < targets designated for suppression and interrogation, take them alive if possible, dead if necessary. > While the snake **** and the less than legal ghost slaves subdued the other elf commandos, Shebari wrapped her knife around her target and whispered to the pretty elf who might look like a youth, but was probably older than the Commonwealth. "Don't worry, I won't patronize you with threats. This blade is morghul glass, so you are going to tell me everything you know." Shebari taunted before slicing the elf's throat.

Jayquelahn knew that she was dying. That is usually what happens when a blade cuts your throat. At first, this did not bother her as much as she would have thought it would have. The elf assassin had lived a long life and served her monarch and the Altara with all of her heart and soul. She knew the gods would judge her well. Then Jayquelahn realized that something was wrong. As the elf felt like her soul being drawn into a funnel while she could still feel her clinging to unlife, the assassin came to the horrible realization that the person who had killed her was a necromancer. A member of a vile profession long outlawed in most civilized elven kingdoms. To be killed by such a person is to put oneself in jeopardy of having one's body reanimated as a zombie just as one's soul is kept lingering as a wraith. Such creatures were seen as monsters in the eyes of the gods and The **** Codes.

Shebari Bourbaalois gathered her new zombies into her containment purse as their disembodied spirits were drawn into her fan while her snake man tied up the prisoners that had been taken alive before returning to his containment card. Shebari looked towards the stranger and could not tell if his gifts extended to seeing through In Total Darkness. As much as such a thing would make her life difficult, a part of the necromancer hoped that the handsome traveler had learned her dark secret. It would certainly make things interesting.

By the time the sheriff's deputies arrived, the darkness had been dispelled and six elite elven commandos were in spell proof shackles. All of them refused to say a word as they were hauled off to the county lock up and await an arraignment before the magistrate. Statements were taken, but all the deputies learned was that a squad of elf commandos equipped with high grade stealth gear tried to kidnap an elf girl claiming to be on her adventure by using a highly controlled enchantment in what amounted to an attempting unlawful enslavement of a person.

"If you would like to press personal charges. Contact the magistrates office." said the sergeant deputy to Titania. "What they did was unspeakable, miss. And I want you to know that you have our deepest sympathies. Make no mistake, what they did was a serious crime in our kingdom, justice will be done upon them. You have my word on that."
"Thank you." said Titania, weakly. The elf maiden clung to Jerry like he was a piece of driftwood in a raging storm. Her face was pale and her eyes red from the tears.
"Do you have any idea why they might have been targeting you?" the deputy asked. "These were no small timers. These are elite commandos with some of the finest gear I have ever seen. And they wanted you. Why is that?"
Titania buried her face in Jerry's shoulder. "Respectfully officer, she is in shock. How about we call it a night and tomorrow we can stop by your watch house and make a full statement on our way to Stoneford."
"Heading to the big city, are you?" asked the deputy.
Jerry shrugged his shoulders. "It is where she wants to go, and I promised I would get her there."
The deputy tipped his cap. "Y'all be having a pleasant evening."

"What happened?" asked Corporal Galadron when only one member of the team made it to the fall back point.
"We got wiped." said Sergeant Legarcza. "Whoever did the intel on this can go to the deepest hell in the underverse!" The assassin ripped the healing potion from the hands of the logistics officer and guzzled the healing brew. "She was protected by a human. He was the fastest human I have ever seen, no, the fastest thing I have ever seen, period. and such power. I have never seen anything like it. But that was not all.
"There was something else. I don't know who or what, but they had some master level shadow magic. Jayquelahn and Dumplemort are MIA, the rest got pinched and are being held in the local jailhouse."
"What's the plan, Sarge?" Asked the conjurer and enchanter who had not gone in with the rest of the team.
"First, we get our people out of the cages the humans put them in." said Legarcza. "Then we re-assess and try a new angle."
"What angle is that?" asked Galadron.
"Whatever angle the captain decides on." answered Legarcza.

Jerry thought that he ought to be tired. He had just taken on an adventurer party solo and thought that the proper response to such sudden **** ought to be fatigue. Instead, Jerry was buzzing with energy. This had been the best day of his life and the man did not want it to end. The Valwaaroos and Bourbaaloises had said their good evenings and hired a taxi to take them home. Jerry looked at the elf girl Titania, the orc woman Bellanna, the human girls Sasha, Chloe, and Zoe, then at all the containment cards he had won at playing cards. For the first time, Jerry really felt like a Master. "Slaves." he commanded. "Let's go upstairs and get acquainted."
"""Yes, Master."""" the ladies said before following behind Jerry as he carried Titania upstairs to bed.

(Leave your thoughts in the comments. Besides Freynika, which member of Jerry's menagerie of monster girls should get a special spotlight? If there is a type of monster girl you want to see featured, do not hesitate to let me know. If you have questions about the lore and world building, feel free to ask.)
