Sarah looked at the crude mural on the bunker wall, at the figure of Leonidas with his bulky golden briefs, and then at Betty, who was adjusting the weight of her own vintage diaper with a grunt of effort.

"This is insanity, Betty," Sarah said, wiping a smear of grease from her face. "You want me to chase a legend based on a historical parody to fight a totalitarian government? A magical 'Golden Diaper'?"

Betty limped over to a table covered in disassembled electronic components and empty canned food tins. She shoved a stack of old manuals titled "How to Change Your Baby (1998 Edition)" to the floor, revealing a massive, yellowed map.

"Insanity?" Betty laughed, the sound echoing off the metal walls. "Insanity is letting your friends rot in the Central Plaza while Nanny turns their brains into obedient mush. Do you have a better plan, 'Natural' girl? Are you going to storm the Reformatory in your tight jeans and ask 'please'?"

Sarah fell silent. She had nothing. Mike and Jessica were lost, and she was next. If there was a 1% chance this absurd story was real, it was the only 1% she had.

"Fine," Sarah sighed, defeated. "I accept. Where do I start?"

Betty’s eyes shone with a fanatical fever.

"The legend says that Leonidas and his 300 Heavy Infantry didn't just hide the Golden Diaper. They protected it behind Three Trials of Endurance. Tests designed to break anyone who relies on modern convenience. Only a true master of their sphincters, or a pure 'Natural' like you, could pass."

Betty smoothed the map with her dirty hands. It showed South America, but it was covered in notes made with red marker, frantic circles, and lines of string taped down with masking tape.

"I spent twenty years triangulating the residual energy signals," Betty whispered. "The first trial isn't about holding it. It's about surviving the flow."

She pointed a trembling finger at a dense green patch on the map.

"The Ancient Amazon."

"The Amazon?" Sarah asked, incredulous. "That’s an Exclusion Zone. They say the humidity there is so high that modern diapers disintegrate in minutes."

"Exactly!" Betty shouted, slamming her hand on the table. "Nanny hates that place. The nature there is wild, wet, uncontrollable. There are no bathrooms, Sarah. No changing stations. No air conditioning to dry the powder."

Betty pulled a crumpled piece of paper from the neckline of her tank top. It was a drawing of a rock formation that looked like an open mouth.

"The Cave of the Deluge. It lies in the heart of the jungle, where the rivers meet and the mud never dries. The legends say the entrance exhales a constant steam. That is where the first clue lies."

"And how do I get there?" Sarah asked. "Public transport scans diaper chips. I can't even get on a bus."

Betty smiled, showing her yellowed teeth.

"You're not taking a bus. I have a 'vehicle' out back. An old diesel-powered jeep I fixed up. No onboard computer, no tracker. It drinks gasoline and spits black smoke, just like me."

Betty handed the drawing and an analog compass to Sarah.

"Go North. Follow the river that is the color of clay. Find the Cave. But be careful, Sarah..." Betty’s expression turned grim. "The legend says the Cave of the Deluge tests your fear of getting dirty. If you hesitate, the forest swallows you."

Sarah took the compass. The weight of the cold object in her hand seemed to seal her fate. She was going to the most hostile place on Earth to search for a Spartan king's underwear, guided by a conspiracy theorist wearing a thirty-year-old diaper.

"I'm going to bring back that golden thing," Sarah said, with a newfound determination. "And I'm going to make Nanny swallow every piece of plastic she ever manufactured."

"That's the spirit!" Betty cackled, slapping Sarah on the back so hard she almost knocked her over. "Now go! Before I need to change my 'sediment filter' and the smell kills you before the mission even starts!"
