You didn’t actually find an effect in any of the subject profiles and instead found it on your own, figuring out that this would be the easiest way to show Sarah without involving anyone else in your plan.

Eye of the Beholder -
Allows the user to view through a selected Subject's eyes for 10 minutes or less after activating. User cannot influence the Subject’s actions directly during this time and can cancel the effect whenever they wish.

Eye of the Beholder further details -
User may select any subject to use the effect but each subject can only be viewed through, once per day. User may look through the eyes of any number of subjects they wish to view but this may cause mental fatigue if used in rapid succession. Caution advised with first usage.

You had used the effect earlier to see Rebecca when she was getting ready for tonight’s party, but you still had the opportunity to use it on Sarah as a test.

You showed Sarah the details of the perk and she carefully read over the description. You had told her earlier that you had a profile but given you were under somewhat of a time constraint before you needed to get back to the part, not everything had been explained fully.

“Alright, let’s try it. Go sit in the corner with your back to us. Actually, better yet…” Sarah said, getting up to grab a random t-shirt from one of her drawers.

“Wrap this around your head so you can’t see” Sarah added, catching you off guard when she threw the t-shirt right at your head.

Her aim was impressive as it hit you square in the face, stunning you momentarily.

You heard Emma quietly try to hold back a laugh to herself which didn’t stop even after you removed the shirt from your face and glared in her direction.

“I’ll activate the effect first and then you can tie it round my head yourself if you want” you suggested to Sarah, trying to give her all the control over this test.

You navigated to Sarah’s profile and after the usual prompt to confirm your choice, you were greeted with the same message you had first seen on Emma’s profile, something you had almost forgotten about entirely.

You showed the both of them and Emma’s eyes lit up with recognition.

“Oh yeah! You told me about that” she quickly shouted, turning to Sarah with an excitable look on her face.

When you last tested this effect with Emma, you didn’t end up hitting yes for the second effect. Emma had been out in public while you were testing it and you hadn’t wanted to randomly freak her out when there was a chance someone would overhear her.

Relaying what happened in the past to Sarah, you gave her the final say in what option you would pick. You weren’t sure if it was how you had worded it or Emma’s excitable expression, but Sarah seemed keen to test the new option.

“I mean what’s the worst that could happen” she replied pretty flippantly, not exactly the answer you were looking for when she was dealing with a potentially mind altering device.

“You’re 100% sure?” you asked, keeping your voice neutral.

That at least seemed to prod her into making a more serious choice as even Emma seemed to hold herself back from being too giddy.

“I’m sure” she replied, swallowing sharply as if the nerves suddenly got to her.

You turned on her bed to face the wall, your back to her as you hit the button to confirm.

Even without prompting, you shut your eyes almost on instinct, knowing the feeling that was about to follow.

Your perception zipped across the room and up to where Sarah was standing. The nauseous feeling was less so than your previous attempts but you still felt the need to steady yourself while Sarah was standing and you were sitting down.

You dared to open your eyes and saw a mix of Sarah looking at your back and your phone in your hands, the tshirt still on your lap. You picked it up and tried to put it behind you, finding it strange that you could see exactly where you put it thanks to what Sarah was seeing.

You waited for her to pick it up but she stayed still, not moving as you started to get worried. You saw that Emma went to check on her first before you could even think of turning around.

“You okay?” you heard Emma say, both from your senses and Sarah’s.

That took you a moment to wrap your head around, as if you were on a phone call with someone in the same room as you. There wasn’t a delay or anything like that but it was as if your brain was playing tricks on you when it heard the same sound from 2 different locations.

Emma speaking to Sarah did at least finally make her snap out of whatever reverie she was in and she moved her head back and forth to look between Emma and your back.

“He’s… I… “ Sarah seemed to stammer, clearly feeling something that you weren’t aware of.

“...I need a minute” She said in almost a panic, heading for the door.

Even while wanting to leave, she paused at the door and could still sense whatever the KDK had shown her in this moment, giving her a sense of something before she took off.
