Fixing A Mess

You arrive at Maisie's home to find her freaking out to an extent that you have not seen from her before. She quickly steps outside the front door and shuts it. Apparently her folks don't yet know what has happened.

"You know she blames me!" Maisie hisses at you "She warned me I should never tell anyone"

"I'm really sorry Maisie" you tell her, feeling mortified, but also that you do have some room to defend yourself here "You have to understand, this is all incredibly new and overwhelming to me. I don't know all the rules, I didn't know anything about Holly's situation. It was him him who brought her up, I was only talking about you and I knew you were safe"

"Look, the truth is we both fucked up here" Maisie folds her arms, her tone softening a little "I should have been more clear about things. I just didn't want to keep talking about the fucking curse. Anyway, it's our mess, we need to fix it"

"Okay, so tell me what happened" you suggest, trying to be as pragmatic as you can under the circumstances.

"There isn't all that much to tell. He was waiting for her outside her apartment this morning. He took her back to his place and made her tell his roommates he had convinced her to become a porn actress and they are now watching him direct her. At least they don't know about the curse I guess, though he did hint about there being enough cousins to go around. Anyway, she called me between takes, after her speaking to her work, which he has apparently wrecked for her by the way"

"God that's awful, I guess my friendship with Josh is officially over" the sad thing is, deep down you aren't even surprised he would do this given the chance.

"I guess at least he hasn't tried to fuck her yet, it's all self pleasure stuff" Maisie said as she searched for a crumb of comfort.

"Yeah, he probably won't" you figure "I'm not sure he ever even wants to have sex. He just really likes watching women doing disgusting, depraved stuff"

"Well, I'm sure that thought will be a real comfort to Holly" Maisie snarks

"Yeah I know, he sucks" you admit "Lets head over to his place so I can talk some sense into him. There is literally no chance he can control you right?"

"None" Maisie confirms "But do you really think you can convince that guy to give up using my sister as his personal porn star?"

"Yeah you're right, maybe we need to think this through a little first" you pause for a while, then a thought enters your head "Perhaps I could use my power over you to help?"

"Yeah, 'cos that definitely won't make things worse" Maisie rolls her eyes "And the curse can't be made to affect other people by proxy. So if your plan was to give me hypnotic powers to use on him, it won't work. And I can't be turned into a killing machine either, though I feel like one right now anyway"

"Right, but maybe we could do something more indirect. Like turn you into a lookalike of his favourite porn star? And in exchange for you shooting his movie for free he lets Holly go and deletes all the footage of her"

"Are you fucking kidding me!" now Maisie actually does look like she could turn into a killing machine "Your solution to this is for me to shoot a porno for Josh?"

"But at least nobody would know it was you"

"You would" she blushes a little.

"Yeah, but think what will happen if people see Holly in that. Her life will be ruined!"

"I mean, I suppose it might be the lesser evil in terms of fixing the most immediate problem. It still wouldn't solve him controlling Holly with the curse in the long term though" Maisie concedes.

"Well, it would at least buy us some time to think up a way to deal with that " you reason.

"Let's see if we can think of a better plan first" she waits for a while before exhaling sadly "We're not going to think of a better plan, are we?"
