Somebody wants to talk to you

Julian was lost in thoughts while cleaning the floor. He focuses on his work, mostly to distract himself from the thought about his upcoming meeting with the prison committee that will decide about his future. The only thing that will probably not change is the metal collar around his neck. It is a security device that has to be worn by every superhuman prisoner. I can deliver electric shocks in case of misbehavior (or hurting sound waves in case a prisoner is immune to electricity).

And in worst cases, like a murderous rampage or forcefully removal, it also has explosives inside to quickly kill a fleeing superhuman. This is highly controversial around the whole world, but as long as the alternative is to risk a superhuman murdering the whole prison staff, it appears to be necessary.

Suddenly he feels a pain in his arm. Somebody just hit him. When looking up, a young woman in a prison suit stands across him and crosses her arm kind of pissed. Her Name is Ashley, called Ash. She is kind of a tomboy, cutting her hair short, small breasts and a thin six-pack which she shows everybody while wearing her prison suit belly free. She recently turned 19 too. Julian and Ash both are good friends. Even lovers sometimes when the prison guards don't look. They are not officially boyfriend and girlfriend, but honestly, everyone knows.

One of the few advantages of being imprisoned in a superhuman wing is that there is no gender segregation. These types of prisons are extremely expensive for the state anyway, so only cell assignments and shower times are adjusted accordingly. But during free time, work hours, and yard time, you can freely talk with all kinds of genders.

“Hey, are you ignoring me?” Ashley asks kind of angry, “or did you suddenly turned gay and not need me anymore.”

“Sorry Ash,” Julian mumbles and gives her a weak smile, “lost in thoughts.”

“About me I hope,” Ash replies rough, “not about Newsbitch or Snakegirl. I will kick you in the balls if you fancy about her scales.”

Julian can't help but chuckle about this comment. Newsbitch is an insult for Cosmic, the superhero who saved him some years ago. She was on the news a lot lately because she won the hero of the year award last year. A price for the most successful superhero which the worldwide league of heroes gives once a year. Some people consider it just a propaganda show, others compare it to the Nobel Peace Price. And since Cosmic is a fucking beauty idol and has a short history with Julian, Ash was constantly jealous every time the TV showed some news about her.

Snakegirl however is a insulting nickname for Kaira, one of the female prisoners. Like the name suggests, her superpowers made her a human reptile hybrid. She has venom fangs, pale-green scales, enhanced strength and needs a heating lamp in her cell, because she is not a cold blood. And she is literally standing two meters away cleaning her part of the floor.

“Ssshut your ssstupid mouth, ssslut!” Kaira hisses angry and fetches her deadly fangs, “I have no interest in your lover. I don't need anybody to keep me warm at night.”

“Hey, Kairi” a big guy next to Julian interrupts the argument cheeky, “why are you so pissed the whole day? What do you need? Lay an egg?”

“It isss Kaira, Plasssmabrain,” Kaira hisses angry, “and my anssswer isss, FUCK YOU!”

“Oh, wow, I had no idea you are that straight forward,” the guy replies and laughs, “meet me in the library, after the shift.”

Instead of an answer, Kaira smashes her right foot between the laughing guys legs. He immediately goes to his knees and while looking angry to Kaira, his open mouth begins to glow dangerously. But he is not able to show his powers, a strong electric shock forces all of you to moan in pain. Even the fifth guy who has done nothing and tried to focus on his work.

“Inmates, return to work!” a guard nearby orders and shows his remote control for the collars, “this is your only warning. Every further **** will be punished severely. Inmate S2-044 and S2-078, move your equipment to different areas and continue.”

Kaira and the guy pick up their mops and buckets and leave. Julian gets the feeling that there will be a fight in the training room later. Maybe he even can see it during workout. However, the guy was lucky he only got a shock. Using superpowers out of supervised training is forbidden and punished by solitary confinement.

“Nico is an idiot,” Ash mumbles calmer and continues cleaning, “but you haven't answered my question. Do you want to sneak into the showers later for a quick number. I feel super horny today.”

“I … I am not sure,” Julian mumbles, “listen, Ash, I really want to. But it is only a few weeks left before the committee meets and decides. About both of us. I don't want them to sent any of us to an actual superprison because of bad behavior.”

“The hell, man?” Ash asks disappointed, “They sent us to our doom one way or another. I have two more fucking years in this shithole and you even ten. Let us just enjoy the last few weeks together. I even let you do … what you like so much.”

Julian looks at her surprised, but she just puts her finger on her lips and goes back to her duty.
