Victoria arrives with Jennifer

After a long time of riding on the back of Jennifer’s motorcycle, Victoria was beginning to feel her body getting sore for staying in the same position for so long. She was about to complain when they finally reached the lake and the cabin got into view.

The ranger drove the vehicle all the way to the steps that connected the ground to the wooden deck on the back of the cabin. The two of them got off the motorcycle and took off their helmets.

“There, safe and sound, back at the cabin.” Jennifer grinned at the younger blonde.

“Thanks, Ms. White,” Victoria smiled back at the ranger. “I’m glad that I didn’t have to walk all the way back.”

“You’re welcome, but please call me Jennifer,” The older blonde said. “Heather and Zack do it.”

“You don’t mind?” Victoria asked.

“Nah, Ms. White makes me feel old,” Jennifer waved her off. “I’m only twenty-eight, you know?”

Victoria chuckled. “Alright then, Jennifer.”

At that moment, Heather appeared at the top of the steps and looked down at them. “Oh, you’re here,” She said with a smile as she descended the stairs. “I heard the motorcycle.”

She got near the two blondes and hugged Victoria. “You idiot, gave me quite the scare last night, did you know that?”

Victoria smiled at the brunette’s concern. “Sorry, but I really wanted to help Zack.”

“It doesn’t matter now,” Heather said, breaking the hug and then turning to Jennifer. “Thanks for bringing her, Jennifer. Zack told me that you guys will meet again to look at the cave?”

The blue-eyed ranger nodded. “Yeah, your friends found something really strange, Heather,” She said, her expression changing to a more serious one. “I have to at least look into it.”

“Okay, can you please take these sandwiches to him again?” Heather asked, handing five sandwiches wrapped in white paper to the ranger.

“Sure, it’s sweet that you’re caring so much about them,” Jennifer said, storing the package into a backpack strapped to her motorcycle. “And speaking of them, I must get going, Zack’s probably back at the cave again.”

“Bye then, Jennifer,” Victoria smiled at her with admiration. “It was nice meeting you.”

“You too, Victoria,” The blonde ranger said. “You two take care of each other, if there’s someone scaring people around the area, I don’t want you to get reckless, okay?”

Victoria and Heather nodded and exchanged goodbyes with Jennifer once more before the older woman put back her helmet and sped off on her motorcycle.

As she drove it back to the woods, Jennifer couldn’t help but admire Zack and Victoria. ”So young and already fiercely loyal to their friends to the point of spending the night at a cave in the middle of a dark forest.” She thought.
