"My wife and I were just driving through on our way to New York where I'm a field archaeologist and a professor-at-large at Columbia University," Ryan answered. He didn't lie but nor did he tell the full truth.

"Well, if you are going to be in town for a while I'm wondering if you could check out something for me?" Eva inquired, taking a sip of her drink.

"I didn't know there were ruins in this part of the country," Ryan joked.

"Not ruins but an abandoned church," the brunette reporter responded. Ryan put on his best poker face at the mention of the church. "I heard on the police scanner tonight that some teenagers stumbled upon the old church and found what the police say was some Satanic ritual."

"There's no such thing as the Devil, demons, or the supernatural," Ryan noted. The irony of his words were not lost on him.

"Of course, but we don't need some weird sickos sacrificing cats for their depravity."

"So why are you here instead of investigating the church?" Ryan wondered.

"I just want to see if any of these kids may know of some secret college initiation," Eva responded. "I'm trying to get any leads before the bigger media outlets from out of town gets wind of this."

"Again, I wish I could help but I'm an archeologist and not a forensic scientist." Ryan thought the old church was secluded enough that no one would stumble upon it and no one did during his summonings. He hoped that he had removed or destroyed any evidence of his presence that the cops could trace back to him.

"Well, if you change your mind here's my card," Eva said, handing him a business card her purse.

Ryan looked at the business card and wondered if she could be persuaded by Marlissa to drop the story. "Sure," he said, putting the card in his wallet.

"Thanks again for the drink," she said, getting up. "Time to talk to some douche bags if they know anything about that church."

Ryan watched the curvy Latina stride up to some guys at the bar. He wondered if he should grab Marlissa and leave town right away before things would get out hand.
