Chapter 15 by fantaghiro
What's next?
reversing the transformation?
You waited until she was asleep before making your plan.
The hypnosis, you told yourself, could work in reverse. Just as you had built Renee inside her, you could dismantle her — piece by piece — until Sarah surfaced again. But it would take time, and Sarah wasn’t exactly volunteering.
You chose a quiet Sunday morning. Curtains drawn, coffee untouched. Sarah — or Renee, depending on the day — sat cross-legged on the couch, hair in a messy ponytail, scrolling through Renee’s Instagram feed.
“We should do a session,” you said. “Not for Renee — for you. To remember Sarah.”
She gave you a strange look. “What do you mean, remember?”
“I mean… I want you to feel like yourself again. Like before.”
Her smile was faint, almost amused. “I am myself.”
Still, she humored you. She reclined in the chair, closed her eyes, let you count her down.
The induction was slower this time, your voice deliberate. You avoided all the cues that led her deeper into Renee’s personality - no volleyball, no slang, no high school memories. Instead you brought up things only Sarah knew: the smell of your first apartment after it rained, the fight you’d had about buying the wrong couch, the way she used to rest her head on your shoulder while you worked at night.
For a moment, you saw it. The softness in her jaw. The slow, thoughtful way she breathed.
Then, without warning, her brow furrowed. “That’s not me,” she murmured. “I don’t remember that. That’s… someone else.”
“Yes, you do,” you insisted, leaning closer. “No, that’s you. That’s Sarah.”
Her eyes opened — sharp, playful, Renee’s eyes.
“Maybe that’s who I used to be. But I like who I am now.”

The Ultimate Transplant
Someone you know is given a new body & life
PLEASE ADD CHAPTERS! A close friend or family member is horribly injured in an accident. As they lay dying in the emergency room, another patient dies of a brain aneurysm. Both of them are organ donors, so a surgeon decides it's the perfect opportunity for him to try an experimental surgery. He transplants the victim's higher brain (the cerebellum) to the donor's body in an attempt to 'save' a life. Amazingly it works. But the surgery was not approved so the hospital convinces the families to keep quiet, arguing that revealing this operation to the public would bring never-ending media attention to all involved. That means that the patient will have to publicly assume the identity of the donor. What will this mean to your friends and family? Who else will you tell? Although you will spend a lot of time and effort giving support, how will all this alter your relationship to the patient? And how will he or she adapt to a complete change of body and identity? Many transformation stories focus on the change or victim, so I thought it would be interesting to instead have the POV be someone who sees the change from the outside. Writers feel free to explore a change in age, gender, class or ethnicity - and the repercussions that change would have on the main character (and others).
