Tom Smith (34), a shy teacher who is going to be taken advantage of by his colleagues and students (enm, gay)

Tom stared down at the journal and pushed his glasses back up his nose. First, he couldn’t believe that happened. Second, he felt bad for writing that rule, so he wrote another as an apology.

NEW RULE: The barista will be getting an email today for a job offer that pays four times her current wage and is her dream job.

Nodding to himself, Tom put his pencil down and decided that was enough for the day. The man packed up his stuff and left the coffee shop.

Up until a few months ago, Tom would have described himself as being average. He's 5'11" with a lean build and short dark brown hair. He typically wore baggy sweaters and long pants, as he was embarrassed about his body.

Tom was a math teacher at the local high school. He was popular with students and staff because he was always kind and helpful to people.

But lately, it seemed like he couldn't catch a break. In the past two months alone, his house had burned down and his girlfriend of 6 years dumped him after cheating on him with his best friend. Word got around fast and people looked at him with pity.

Perhaps this little book could turn his luck around. But first, he needed to get a good night's rest so he could grade papers tomorrow.
