You're not sure

You shake your head, indicating a lack of ideas — after all, you hadn't so much as thought about how to contribute to the wider picture until a mere forty minutes ago. "Very well, seems we'll have to work together to come up with something." She motions for you to pull up your chair next to hers as she turns to face the desk, legs straddling the chair back; with pen in hand and blank sheet of paper upon the desk.

The two of you chat and brainstorm over the next two hours, going through your current history of travels, your town of origin, the activities you're wont to do when adventuring, as well as various things which could be used by the household. Eventually, you two come upon a list of things you often do:

• you frequently travel
• you go to various places scattered across the world
• you're often at the center of events, either by your own hand or by getting wrapped up in others' affairs
• you often end up exposing certain villainous plots

Looking over the list, Irina looks up to face you, "you know, you could always perform reconnaissance for us. Basically, you would inform us remotely of things going on in the world as they happen — it would give us an advantage as a library, because it would allow us to quickly publish material on world events as they happen rather than years or decades later, and likely with more accurate details than any other library would have." Pausing to see your reaction, she continues, "it wouldn't be void of risks, of course — but neither is life in general." Thinking it over, you pause to query, "how would such remote communication even work?" Irina simply responds by pulling out one of the stones which you saw earlier.

"This here is a recon stone; frequently used by the Empire to communicate across its vast territory. Once per day, it can be activated to send a short message to the person who has its pair. It's not perfect, but it works reasonably well. Basically, you'd concisely send a message over it — and after you confirm that it's safe in your area, we would then send Qilen over to get the more detailed information from you."

"So, are you down for this role, or did you have a different idea?"
