Chapter 67 by BlueKnight
Now that you have obtained information, what is the next part of the plan?
You and Elijah leave for a military expedition along with the other volunteers!
The next day, you woke up in your own room at the inn you are staying with Elijah. After you and the ghoul had eaten breakfasts, you and him quickly leave for the headquarter of the Security Corps to meet Chief Vargas and tell him what you managed to extract from Valeria.
Obviously, you leave the parts about you used foods laced with aphrodisiac and coercing her into having sex with you out. But they are not the only things you left out, you also told Giselle, Pablo and the other captains of the Security Corps about what their leader is up to without mentioning anything about the British Commonwealth and the Japanese-Korean Empire and also lied to them that you gained knowledge about the American Civil War and eugenic ideology of Francis Galton by reading ancient books about the history of the United States.
While now they know what the inhabitants of the Jackson Fortress intended to do, they still have no idea where they have taken the captives. And considering their belief, the chance of the survival of non-white captives will be quite slim while those who are labeled as races traitors will most likely being mistreated quite badly for refusing their ideological belief.
However, Elijah and the one of the commanders from the Orange Kingdom came up with another idea. Now that they have numbers on their side as well, they can taken many of the Jackson Fortress' people as captives to **** them to perform prisoners exchange. But to do that, it required them to go to launch military expeditions against them. And so, many peoples among the Allies who wanted to take the fight to the enemies in the name of defending their home and their interests volunteered to join the expeditionary ****.
Soon, an expeditionary **** consisted of thirty emu-like chickens with their riders, forty two-humped camel-like sheep, two maned chalicothere-like creatures equipped with carts that are pulling two lightweight breech-loading cannons behind each of them, and three hundreds men armed with all weapons available, ranging from the ones for melee combats to long-ranged attacks, leave Port Williams for the strategic location within the steppe. And following them by the river are two armed galleons with the duties to provide provisions and combat supports.
And the place Elijah and the Orange Kingdom's commander chose is the grassland that located between the ruins of Atlanta and the river itself. There, a grove known as the Grove of Grant that is most likely named after Ulysses Grant located there and it has a spring, which makes it the good location to set up a camp and to **** the inhabitants of the Jackson Fortress to react.
Their plan is simple: Set up a camp near the ruins of Atlanta to make it looked like Port Williams is sending in an expedition to search for something in there to **** the inhabitants of the Jackson Fortress to react by sending their own expedition there. And during the night, the Orange Kingdom's commander also dispatched a detachment of the forces under his command to the outskirts of the ruins of Atlanta along with the horse-headed gorilla-like creatures equipped with carted lightweight breech-loading cannons because when the enemies get there, what that is left to do is to defeat them by scattering them and capture those who remained, which is easier said than done.
And the plan worked because by the evening of the next day, a large army with many members that seemed to be too many to be just from the inhabitants of the Jackson Fortress alone!
"Did she lie to me?! This army is too large to be from just one fortified settlement!" - You think as you're thinking about what Valeria told you last night.
"Form ranks! Battle position!" The Orange Kingdom's military commander said as everyone quickly organized themselves into military divisions with the ones equipped with firearms, crossbows, and arrows and bows stand behind those who are equipped with swords, spears and pikes.
Due to how large the enemy's army is, there appeared to be some disorganization within their ranks because as the infantrymen are being left behind, the cavalrymen who are riding emu-like chickens quickly rushed toward without them.
Seeing an opportunity, the commanders suddenly ordered a retreat! While many people do not know why such an order is given, you completely understand what Elijah and the other military leaders are up to.
"So that's the plan. Feigned retreat!" You said as you're riding you two-humped camel-like sheep away along with many others in the army.
Suddenly, one of the riders of two-humped camel-like sheep breaks the formation and run toward the ruins of Atlanta nearby. Once there, the rider relayed the message to begin the attack when both the cavalrymen and the infantrymen of the enemy's army are in ranged.
And just as soon the messenger finished relaying the message, the enemy's forces are in the right range and position to be attacked from afar. And so, the field commander of the detachment immediately ordered his men to open fire!
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BANG! BANG! BOOM! BANG! BOOM!
All men with firearms, crossbows, and bows and arrows quickly opened fire with everything they got at the enemy's cavalrymen and infantrymen who never seen them coming. And to make it worse for them, four lightweight breech-loading cannons carted by the maned chalicothere-like creatures also easily smashed through their ranks and kill a great amount of them!
Disorganized, the army from the Jackson Fortress scattered into multiple directions with some heading toward the river! Upon seeing this, Elijah and the other commanders ordered their army to stop performing the feigned retreat and go pursue them immediately!
As a result, the men who retreated to the river and those who ran toward the ruins of Atlanta are captured while only those who headed back to the south managed to escape back to their stronghold.
"Clearly, they expected just another skirmish. Not a full-scale battle. So the size of their army is most likely just a display of ****." - You think as you're looking at the captured enemy's troops.
The Battle of Grove of Grant, also known as the Battle between the Ruins of Atlanta and the River, is marked as the first victory of the alliance made up of the Orange Kingdom, Axeman City and Port Williams.
Now that the Allies have many more captives in their custody, they may now be able to **** Jackson Fortress to negotiate on their terms and **** them to perform the prisoners' exchange. So obviously, one of the captives is set free with the message to go back to their leader, Matthews, about the demand for the prisoners' exchange and to see if he is willing to negotiate for a truce.
Will the prisoners' exchange occurred?
