Chapter 3
by SmallestStories
Congratulations, you are dead !
Yet here you are.
When you came back to your senses and got up, you couldn't help but notice the lack of... Anything really. There was only a dark fog around you, so dense that you couldn't even see the ground under your feet, and nothing seemed to be there to even give you a way of knowing where you could be.
The only feeling you had was that it was cold, you didn't forget what happened to you, so it surprised you that you didn't feel anything other than the cold... Like you were dead.
"Indeed..." You heard from somewhere in the fog, a voice low and unclear, but understandable enough. And this sole word, said at this exact time... It only served as a proof : you were dead indeed.
"Wait... You are more than others..." The voice continued, not letting you have a mental breakdown over your own ****. But it only confused you : How could you be more than others if you were dead ?
This left you wondering what exactly was this voice to tell you that after letting you know you were dead. But even the confusion didn't last long, as soon enough, you felt a strange pull, a need to go, to start walking somewhere. So you started walking, heading straight in front of you, not knowing what you would find, but still following, for some reason, the pull you were feeling.
Since you had your memory intact, even after dying, you started to guess what was pulling you : maybe the gates of hell ? **** ? Something entirely different and probably worse than anything, so you should really stop following that pull ? Who knew ? Because you didn't, and it didn't matter much in the end, did it ?
Well, you ended up walking up to... A kind of pedestal, with an invisible source of light sitting on top of it. This weak source of white light wasn't doing anything to dissipate the dark fog, yet it felt warm, and you could clealry see it.
"Gift... Void, for you..." Said the voice, finally giving a sign of life, but far less understandable than before...
Yet, this gave you a new information : this light was, in fact, a kind of Void. You heard of the void, the plain nothing, the emptyness, but why does it take the form of a shapeless light ? No idea. But the voice said it was a gift, so you guessed you could take it ? Maybe ?
You slowly reached out to touch the light, wondering what would happen. And as soon as your finger came close enough to the invisible source of light, it disappeared, leaving being an even more empty pedestal, that you couldn't even see due to the lack of light.
Suddenly, your eyelids felt heavy, and exhaustion overcame your senses. You couldn't move a muscle, and collapsed on the spot, unable to do anything but to slowly drift off to sleep, the voice being the last thing your consciousness registered as it said : "Void... Light..."
And you wake up.
